If you are using these on PC you must have a good sound card with Dolby Digital live to get the DTS:X function. They’re located on four axes on each ear cup, which is exactly where you’d normally touch to adjust the headset or turn it off, and they don’t require any real pressure to depress, so it’s a bit of a problem until you’ve used the headset for a while. We were using a Macbook Air and an iPhone 6 Plus for this review, so we found the lack of software support to change audio profiles annoying.Also, there is the occasional static sound that we mentioned which is a minor point but worth mentioning.
Wireless Connectivity: This headset is wireless and allows for easy movement and reduction of cable clutter. The interactive dialogue and directional sounds in a movie can be enjoyed more deeply with this headset. Active Noise Cancellation definitely isn’t for everyone, but it’s handy – as is the variable mic monitor – in all different types of playing spaces. Setup varies slightly from machine to machine, but the package includes all the necessary cables, and the instructions are fairly straightforward. It feels sturdy, but not too heavy, while the synthetic leather and memory foam earcups are soft and comfortable. The wireless transmitter/dock connects to devices at home including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac using an optical audio connection and micro-USB. Even with all of these problems these are probably the most impressive set of headphones I have used in a while.The mic is also hidden into one of the cups, much like the Gold headset, making it ideal for using the headset for more than just gaming online. We connected the Elite 800X to a PlayStation 4 and a PC, and while these systems outputted audio to the 800X, the headset couldn’t be used at all for voice communication.
