In the words of Jean-Claude the pigeon... I am in love with this most delicious, beautiful and delectable book and I wish to fly away with it! - Laura Ellen Anderson, author of the Amelia Fang series Ik heb dit boek reeds mogen lezen voor de Hebbanbuzz. Het boek verschijnt op 7/02/2019 in het Nederlands in de boekhandels.

Sarah Horne has been an illustrator for over fifteen years, she started her career working for newspapers such as the Guardian and the Independent On Sunday and has since illustrated many funny young fiction titles. De week dat Mot een duikboot vond, begon redelijk normaal. Dat was niet zo gek. Er moest nog heel wat gebeuren voor haar grote vondst. Ze had nog niet eens een magneet. Welcome to The Nothing to See Here Hotel! A hotel for magical creatures, where weird is normal for Frankie Banister and his parents who run the hotel. This is a glorious debut from an exciting new voice in children's comedy fiction. Sam Copeland WILL turn into a megastar on the strength of this first outing. Cleverly daft storytelling at its very, very best. - Maz Evans, author of Who Let The Gods OutBut it seems the system is triggered too often. It's difficult to assess exactly how much anxiety has risen over the years or whether we recognise it more. Certainly, when I was a child, 'stress' and 'anxiety' were words I don't think I ever heard mentioned. Clinical levels of anxiety are increasing, though, and it is vital that children have the necessary tools and support for dealing with everyday worries. Illustrations by Sarah Horne are an absolute delight and I enjoyed this read from the first chapter.

Even though every kid wants a superhero power, Charlie isn't keen on turning into a pigeon in the middle of the school play. As soon as Charlie tells his friends, they want to try everything they can to help him find out why it happens, proving that anything is possible with a little help from your friends.Charlie McGuffin has inexplicably turned into a spider, and can’t work out why. He’s not Spider-Man. He’s not been exposed to radiation. He just changed. This is a book that isn't what you expect, cleverly portraying ways of dealing with stress and anxiety..This is a brilliant and positive debut from Sam Copeland Booktrust

Gloriously silly, gleefully naughty and totally entertaining Michelle Harrison, author of A Pinch of MagicFantastically ridiculous and silly in equal measures . . . will have readers snorting with giggles - The Northern Echo A clever and hilarious story with a hero you'll love... I'm already looking forward to the next one" Parents In Touch And school isa huge stress for some children. That can't be avoided, but it is how they relate to that stress and learn how to deal with it that matters. A big step for a child in dealing with worries is that they feel safe to talk to people about how they are feeling - and it's vital that their feelings aren't dismissed. Adults have a tendency to say, with the best intentions, 'Oh don't worry! That's nothing to worry about!', but for a child who feels anxious, that's not helpful. They don't necessarily want to be fixed - they want to be heard. Told from Charlie’s point of view, there is a dark side to the seemingly comedic nature of this book as you realise that Charlie’s animal habits are a cause of a bigger problem. This is a book that isn’t what you expect, cleverly portraying ways of dealing with stress and anxiety, and providing some sound advice throughout. Furthermore, my wife is an educational psychologist, and I have listened to her and - like many great men through history - I shall take a woman's knowledge, steal it, and take the credit. The truth is that any intelligent opinions and advice below are almost certainly hers.

The Power of Reading: How Books Help Develop Children’s Empathy and Boost Their Emotional Development Twelve-year-old Maggie embarks on a dangerous journey into a sinister realm to rescue a schoolmate, andencounters bizarre creatures, moon witches and dark horrors. A compelling fantasy adventure that explores the nature of happiness, friendship and trust. We need to truly listen, be open and empathise. Mindfulness and yoga can be hugely useful tools, when taught by somebody who is properly trained. And on a basic level, learning what truly makes you happy - being in nature, having a laugh with friends, playing sport, listening to music, reading a good (funny!) book - all these things help promote positive mental health.Angelica – Jelly for short – is the ‘Funny One’ at school, known for her clever impressions and comedy sketches. But being funny is a fine line and behind all the humour, Jelly’s hiding anxieties about her weight. If they’re laughing with her, they’re not laughing at her, right? And she has another secret too, a secret hobby: writing poetry.
