About this deal

The padding on the G535 Lightspeed’s earcups feels good, made of what appears to be a breathable fabric – similar to that featured on Razer’s gaming headsets. They reported solid clarity and a natural-sounding voice but noted that it sounded like a headset microphone as opposed to a higher-quality boom mic. The Logitech G535 have a fairly unremarkable design at first glance, rocking a subdued aesthetic that breaks away from the usual RGB-drenched vibes you often find on gaming headsets. On the left cup, you have your volume, on and off switch, and mic - which isn’t detachable but does have a handy foldaway to mute function. The headset comes with a one meter, USB-C to USB-A charging cable long enough to be used while the headset is on if your USB port is reasonably close by.

It’s super comfortable to wear, and I never experience any discomfort even after hours of gaming and listening to music. I've worn these headphones religiously during testing, and not once have I felt any discomfort whatsoever, with the memory foam earpads proving the utmost comfort during long sessions. The two most obvious being a lack of built-in surround-sound and an absence of noise-cancellation for its microphone. As an avid gamer and someone who works from home, I wear my headset a lot, and the G535 is one that I can rely on for comfort. While they're lacking a thumpy low-bass, and their treble is a bit recessed, you can adjust their sound to your liking using their companion software's graphic EQ and presets. It's a great sound, all said, and one that has a stereo/spatial presence, which can be immediately heard when listening to music. While both headphones are comfortable, the SteelSeries have a more neutral sound profile, and a significantly better boom mic performance. I can make out perfectly what someone is saying to me when the headset is on, and I can hear sounds like passing trucks, my dishwasher, and cooking sounds very easily. While they feel like they should survive a couple of accidental drops without taking too much damage, the middle of the headband and the yokes seem like weak points of the build.Sound is perceived as coming from speakers placed in the room around you rather than from inside your head. You can use the headset while charging, but the USB receiver will need to remain plugged in, so plan your ports accordingly. Logitech offers up half a dozen presets covering movies, bass boost, and game genres like FPS and MOBA. Although that plastic cleverly alternates between matte and shiny textures, so it manages to avoid feeling cheap. But in close-up conversations in the same game the surround-sound effect was somewhat lacking in precision.

Since it connects using a USB-A dongle, it’s compatible with platforms like PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch (when docked), and PC. During long sittings of Cities: Skylines, the well-rounded sound and supreme left of comfort meant the Logitech G353 seamlessly melted into the background while I toiled away amongst the hustle and bustle. As good as the audio quality is though, the headset offers little to no noise isolation, with lots of background noise creeping in whilst the sound from the headset easily seeps out for others to hear. They also have a decent passive soundstage that feels like sound is coming from speakers placed in the room around you, rather than from inside your head, which can help immerse you in your audio. Naturally, this adds extra pressure for it to deliver in the audio department and other areas that go beyond fit and feel, and the good news is it does. The bass response on these headphones is good, although, as mentioned earlier, the lower bass notes don’t have the “punch” I would like them to. That said, their wireless design eliminates the chance of the audio cable snagging on something and pulling them off of your head. The mic itself isn’t detachable, but features a flip-to-mute function that appears to be becoming increasingly common on gaming headsets these days.

Their non-detachable boom mic can separate your voice from moderate background noise like traffic from an open window. In fact, you kind of need the entire frequency response to be detailed and crisp, which is why it's so important that the out-of-the-box sound for any gaming headset be good enough to play games with, listen to music, or jump into a chat session. There you've got Sony's impressive spatial audio to enable, not to mention easy access to chat balance - a setting not present on PC or the on-ear controls. If you’re looking for a wireless headset that uses a USB-C dongle for compatibility with Switch, Steam Deck, and phones, check out the SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless. A great listening experience, no matter if you're playing a blockbuster like God of War or chilling with some electronic music. We've added a small disclaimer to the App Support test which highlights some of the most commonly reported issues users online have encountered with Logitech's G HUB companion software.
