About this deal

The PSU is mounted towards the front of the QBX, so there’s a cable pass-through built into the rear of the chassis to help accommodate this. I was discouraged by some opinions that saying I will be unlikely to be able to fit the NH-C14S without involving some mods. Turns out, it didn’t—it’s 160mm long, which is a common ATX form factor, but the QBX only supports 140mm power supplies. However, this might not work if you're installing an optical drive, which is a bummer because as it turns out, finding the right size PSU with a compatible plug orientation isn't easy, especially if you rule out generic (read: low-quality) units.

Then I realized that I didn’t need them, since the QBX’s metal chassis was had riser globes already punched out. The first step here doesn’t change with a mini-ITX system: installing the I/O shield is simple, though not always easy. Silverstone almost exclusively uses SFX PSU's in their ITX systems just for the reason they save so much space. NB: would recommend a fan grille for the top left fan, as ATX and front header cables are mm away from the moving blades and were making me anxious. Its small size makes it a candidate for a home brewed Steam Machine, and it would also work well in a dorm-room setting, a cramped apartment, or anywhere else where space is a premium commodity.

Then I took off the GPU shroud only to have the GPU heatsink left with 2x 120mm fans below it, but the GPU temps gone mad, it reached its maximum thermal limit at 92C and crashed the system. inch solid-state drives (SSDs) or hard drives at the same time, as well as a 120mm liquid cooler, all suspended in air. The oversight for the 120mm AIO and clearance with the supplied rear fan is annoying but not cruical.

Thankfully the SF600 24pin ATX cable not too stiff to bend, to give a bit more space for the NF-A14 to fit behind the heatsink. This one is real challanging first SFF build, especially in the planing process, and very tedious building process, especially in the cable managements on the back panel, because I have 2x fan hubs on there. It actually touches the side panel but only a light touch on the fan rubber pads, it doesnt even push the panel, so I still can slide the panel on and off quite easy. I also would like the front panel connectors be made on top of the case instead of on the side to make room for 2x 120mm fans/radiator.
