Friends Visits The Ellen DeGeneres Show (SD, 16 minutes): Daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres welcomes Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer (separately but in good spirits). Gag Reel (SD, 10 min) – A gag reel seems like a no-brainer for a show like this, so it's a bit surprising that it took six seasons to get one. It's nice to see the cast fumble and be real with each other, and some of the flubs are quite funny. The One that Goes Behind the Scenes (SD, 42 minutes): The first real must-see special feature, this lengthy Discovery Channel documentary is easily the best extra available on the first ten discs and, after so many shallow clip montages, a genuine relief from the monotony. Candid and extensive, a variety of interviews with the cast and crew are intercut with fly-on-the-wall prep and production footage. But it's when the cameras go inside the writer's room, into the cast rehearsals and onto the stage in front of a live studio audience that the documentary really takes off. It's all a bit dated, I'll admit, and it focuses on Season Six episodes rather than much from Season Five. That doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable, though. Don't skip past this one assuming it's as trite as some of the supplemental drivel from the first four seasons.

Friends’ continuing popularity is impressive, and the mere existence of this Blu-ray set is a testament to that. Warner Bros. would not be spending the time or money to take the original 35 mm negatives to make new HD transfers for both this set and syndication purposes if the show wasn’t bringing in the revenue to justify it – which is no doubt why we’re getting this Blu-ray set before, say, a Smallville one, among many other series that have strong followings but not Friends-size followings. Season 3: The One Where No One's Ready, The One With the Football (featuring Art Director John Shaffner), The One the Morning After The wait is over! Warner Bros. brings one of the best selling TV on DVD titles ever to Blu-ray, with 236 episodes from 10 seasons spread out across 20 discs, with an additional disc for new and exclusive extras. The discs are color coded per season, though the colors themselves don't match the old DVD color schemes, as the disc menus do. The discs themselves are marked 1-21, with the episodes contained (going from 1-236) marked on them. Originally advertised as a 21 BD50 set, the truth is this set is 19 BD50's, with a BD25 for both discs 20 and 21. This release contains the broadcast versions of the show, rather than the extended editions found on DVD, though some episodes are longer than others. What's Up with Your Friends? (SD, 9 minutes): Brief montages highlighting the friends and other characters. But while the group might appear as every-people, the individual characters have wonderfully charming and three-dimensional personalities. While this is a sitcom, the great thing about having ten seasons is that it gave almost everyone a chance to develop in a host of important situations. You get to see the true size of Joey's big heart, and what happens when you break it an episode like "The One with Chandler in a Box". Phoebe, who often appears to be a space cadet, is also the most perceptive, often knowing what everyone else thinks and feels before they do. Ross and Rachel of course have their famous on-again, off-again relationship (that's really more off than on), but both also develop as individuals. Rachel in particular has a great arc, going from the rich brat who came in from the rain to a strong, independent single mother.

The show revolves around the very different lives of a group of six friends that live in Manhattan, and details their trials and tribulations during the ten years that they live in New York. It all starts when Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) leaves her fiancé at the altar, and goes to New York in search of her best friend from high school Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), who she subsequently moves in with. After moving in, she finds herself thrown into a tight-knit friendship group of Monica's older brother Ross (David Schwimmer), Ross' college roommate Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Chandler's current roommate Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), and the mysterious Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow). Having owned the DVD box set with its poor quality versions I was looking forward to the updated Blu-ray version. I am delighted, the quality is great, lots of extras and included full length versions of some shows. The best feature of this set is its so much more compact for storing. For more about Friends: The Complete Series and the Friends: The Complete Series Blu-ray release, see Friends: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review published by Kenneth Brown on November 14, 2012 where this Blu-ray release scored 3.5 out of 5. Audio Commentaries: Four more commentaries pop up for Season Seven: "The One with the Holiday Armadillo" with executive producers Kevin S. Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane and costume designer Debra McGuire, "The One with Joey's New Brain" with Bright, Kauffman and Crane, and both "The One with Monica and Chandler's Wedding, Part 1" and "Part 2" with Bright, Kauffman and Crane. The inclusion of anyone other than the showrunners -- pleasant and forthcoming as they are -- is appreciated, but only draws attention to what could have been. Imagine actor commentaries, writers' chats and other combinations. While Bright, Kauffman and Crane are as jovial and informative as ever, it would be nice to hear from a cross section of the entire cast and crew. EnglishSDH, French, GermanSDH, Japanese, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Mandarin (Traditional), Norwegian, Swedish( less)Friends' on Location in London (SD, 2 min) – The finale of season four takes place in London, and this featurette briefly looks at the logistics of that decision. Audio Commentary: While most of the seasons have three or more commentaries, the first season only offers one: "Pilot" with executive producers Kevin S. Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane. The showrunners' comments have been recorded separately, which is a disappointment, but they manage to cover a fair amount of information about the development, casting and production of the series' opening 24-episode volley. The Complete Collection of Friends is the eagerly awaited Blu-ray edition of the show. This compiles all ten seasons of the iconic and world renowned American sitcom, created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman. This Collection boasts Friends for the first time ever on Blu-ray, with all 236 original broadcast episodes on twenty-one discs, all completely remastered and enhanced in Blu-ray quality. Friends' is among the best selling DVD titles ever. It was also one of the first TV shows to premiere on DVD. As such, the special features on a per-season basis are rather sparse. WB has included a new disc exclusive to this set with more features. However, other features are missing, including some of the audio commentaries and all of the extended episodes found on the DVD sets. Again, this could have been due to space considerations per disc, but at that point, slap a 22nd disc in there so we could at least have all of the existing extras on the set. For a show with such a large following, the selection of features here is disappointingly slim. Audio Commentaries – Commentaries for "The One with the Late Thanksgiving", "The One Where the Stripper Cries", and "The Last One with Bright, Kaufman, and Crane. "The Last One" gets understandably emotional, with Marta Kauffman totally unable to keep it together starting about halfway through.

Friends: The One With All The Trivia is a question and answer based videogame using over 3000 interactive questions and clips. Of course, 'Friends' wasn't perfect. For every enjoyable celebrity cameo, there are a lot of needless ones, such as an entirely gratuitous and unfunny cold open featuring Robin Williams and Billy Crystal. 'Friends' also had a terrible propensity for stealth clip shows. Most TV series have one, maybe two clip episodes, and the show is either all clips or has a short introduction by one of the actors. 'Friends' tried to integrate their clip shows with actual plot, meaning that you can't entirely skip those episodes, but big chunks of them will be material you've already seen. And there are four or five scattered throughout the show. In retrospect, season one feels uneven, and season nine takes a huge dip in quality, starting with the poorly plotted "The One Where No One Proposes", and then starting a major plot where Chandler has to move to Tulsa for work. Season nine is also where you'll find the aforementioned "The One with the Male Nanny", which shows just how poorly Chandler's character was being handled by that point. This set isn't perfect. I can't argue that it is a perfect set because it's got a lot of issues that undoubtedly will annoy some buyers. What I will say is that I have never thought that this incredible series would ever arrive on Blu-ray in High Definition and that it would look as amazing as it does on this Blu-ray release.

Audio Commentaries: Three more showrunner commentaries for your listening pleasure: "The One with the Male Nanny" with executive producers Kevin S. Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, "The One with Rachel's Other Sister" with Bright, Kauffman and Crane, and "The One in Barbados" with Bright, Kauffman and Crane. It's more of the same, granted, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The biggest downside is the same as before: a full season deserves more than a handful of commentaries. Music Video (SD, 2 minutes): The Flaming Lips' "Phoebe Battles the Pink Robots," a ballad version of "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" from the band's album of the same name. The picture quality is grainy and has some softness overall. Yet it's a decidedly film-like transfer for each episode, there are no issues with abundant DNR or other manipulations, and everything looks free of any dirt or other problematic issues of the sort. There are also some minor issues in regards to color and contrast during many of the episodes, and this will be bothersome to some. However, these aren't deal-breaker issues. Mostly, I thought the show looked beautiful. There are some issues bust most of these issues are inherent to the time of the production and to the source material. The following video supplements are included across the seasons and are presented in 1.33:1 full frame (as presented on the original DVD releases): I've been a huge friends fan my entire life and own the dvd series 1-10, so before friends was even on Netflix I had probably watched each ep at least 5 times on the dvds. Anyone who has done the same (or remembers it airing), are you bothered by the shortened episodes on Netflix? They cut out so much dialogue each ep that is SO glaring to me, and it makes me sad for new friends fans that they will never see the full jokes and are missing out on so much.

Friends: The Complete Series Blu-ray Friends: The Complete Series Blu-ray

I hope there are other diehard fans out there who notice this stuff!! I'm not sure if there's already been posts about it 🤷🏻‍♀️ Friends arrives on Blu-ray with 1080p widescreen transfers remastered from the 35mm film elements. This is the first time Friends has ever been released on home media in widescreen. Friends was only released on DVD in the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1 full frame. This Complete Collection shows how these young friends help each other through their day to day lives and struggles, always being there for each other, and always somehow ending up in awkward, yet hilarious situations. It's always difficult surviving in the real world, but it helps if you have friends. (Cat Emerson) Behind the Style: The Look of Friends is a twenty-minute long documentary about the costume designer, makeup artist, and hair stylist who bring top quality work on to the show and how it contributes to the success of Friends. Friends is a sitcom series that followed the spirited friendships, lives, and romances of the six main characters: Rachel ( Jennifer Aniston ), Chandler ( Matthew Perry ), Monica ( Courteney Cox ), Phoebe ( Lisa Kudrow ), Ross (David Schwimmer), and Joey (Matt LeBlanc). These characters became the friends of television audiences everywhere as we got to experience everything significant (and not so significant) in their lives in Manhattan. The good stuff. Miserable moments. The comedy. The drama. Friends was a beautifully written series of massively successful proportions. It's arguably the greatest sitcom ever (well, it's at least definitely tied with a similarly-fashioned series named Seinfeld). This is a series that had a significant impact regarding the pop-culture landscape and it even warmed the audience spirit and entertained viewers of all ages. In some ways, Friends even changed the television landscape altogether and helped to redefine it as something new and exciting everywhere. Friends has remained one of the most popular and endearing series of network television throughout many years of syndication and it will undoubtedly continue, considering the fact that there is going to eventually be many generations of fans who love Friends. True Friends Documentaries : Friends from the Start, When Friends Become Family, and The Legacy of Friends. These three documentaries explore the development of the show, its cast's unity and chemistry and how that helped to define the show as the gigantic success it became, and the lasting impact of the series. All told, these three documentaries offer over an hour of new material for Friends fans. Unfortunately, there are no appearances from the original cast leads.
