First, the zeppelin almost crashes when Erik and Gerda foolishly fly it through a group of arguing weather spirits, who retaliate with lightning. Trylla is a Troll that first appears in " Hilda and the Stone Forest", and also plays a large role in " Hilda and the Mountain King". Some characters were given dot eyes as to help make characters like David better blend in to the style of the show.

Frida manages to make a mental connection to one of the attacking trolls and ends up seeing a similar vision to when Hilda touched the orb, only this time she sees her mom rise from the city. She succeeded in getting them to calm down, thus saving the city from getting completely covered in snow. Hilda, who knows ho much this will disturb the local creatures (like the Woff and the Bragga Family), initiates a plan to sabotage the bellringers on the day of the ceremony. Hilda - The main heroine, a headstrong, smart, kind and curious girl, keen on exploring the world around her with an open mind.In addition to being able to understand their language and gaining access to their magic, her increased physical strength and endurance allows her to hurl boulders, leap great distances, relax on a mountaintop with no ill effects and roar loud enough to be heard in Trolberg. After the adventure, Hilda and the trolls remain in contact, with Baba sometimes visiting Hilda's house, and Hilda sometimes going out into the wilderness with Baba and her mom.

In " Chapter 8: The Fifty Year Night", Hilda discovers her downstairs neighbor, Peter Ostenfeld, has been using copies of an enchanted edition of Trolberg Digest to revisit a night he spend with Matilda Pilqvist 50 years ago.When Alfur and Hilda protest, and offer to have Hilda fill out an eyewitness confirmation form to verify Alfur's reports are correct, Alvin denies them this, stating that Hilda is not a reliable eye witness, and that any additional paperwork concerning Alfur's case is put on hold. While being led around the Stone Forest by Baba's mom, Hilda encountered Trolls that hoarded car parts, barrels, bones, and even soft furnishings.
