About this deal

I was addicted to this story, I truly loved all the characters - literally the whole kit and caboodle! This was my first Paige Toon novel and definitely not my last. I’m missing Wren, Anders, his brother Jonas and sister Bailey already. I’m more than happy to recommend the adorable “Only Love Can Hurt Like This”, if this genre appeals t What a beautiful, lovely tearjerker of a book. This story will stay with me for a long time. . .' Only Love Can Hurt Like This: an unforgettable love story

thank you so much to penguin cornerstone for this arc via netgalley in exchange for an honest review! Neither of them expected to fall in love. But sometimes life has other plans.
When Wren realises her fiancé is in love with someone else, she thinks her heart will never recover.
On the other side of the world, Anders lost his wife four years ago and is still struggling to move on.
Wren hopes that spending the summer with her dad and step-family on their farm in Indiana will help her to heal. There, amid the cornfields and fireflies, she and Anders cross paths and their worlds are turned upside-down again.
But Wren doesn't know that Anders is harbouring a secret, and if he acts on any feelings he has for Wren it will have serious fall-out for everyone.
Walking away would hurt Wren more than she can imagine. But, knowing the truth, how can she possibly stay?”Every new book that has been published seems to be my new favourite, and every year I think, this cannot get any better. But it does. Every time. What I so love about Paige’s books is that the details change accordingly to the narrator. It’s the small details that set the scene and I love it. We are welcomed into the story as our heroine Wren has just had her heartbroken by her fiancé and at the suggestion of her mum she needs some time away which is what leads her to spending some time with her father in America on his farm. Although Wren is here for healing there are still scars that are present with the relationship with her father who has lived in America with her step mother and sister but can the distraction of the Farmers sons next door help to provide the perfect distraction this Summer? But Wren doesn't know that Anders is harbouring a secret, and if he acts on any feelings he has for Wren it will have serious fall-out for everyone. The side characters are equally as wonderful in this book. Bailey and Jonas are fun and the perfect siblings to our main protagonists. I love that we are transported by this one. Toon has definitely given me a welcome escape. This is a brilliant love story that takes you on will they won't they journey for various characters.

I don't often read women’s romance novels but when I do, I always enjoy a well-written and intriguing love story that hits my emotions in all the right places. Paige Toon’s “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” was a perfect example of this for me, which had me smiling with happiness and tearful with emotional turmoil. Wren has just been dumped by her fiancé as he has fallen in love with someone else and so she decides to escape to Indiana for a couple of weeks to see her somewhat estranged dad and step family. Straight from one unrequited situation to another, and another…? Sometimes when we feel like we are lost we need to search for something, anything to ignite our soul and feel a sense of belonging, opening ourselves up to something new or searching for those parts of ourselves that we had forgotten. Wren was a really easy character to love, she wasn’t perfect but she wasn’t afraid to apologize when she was wrong and make amends. Her pain of feeling like an outsider in her dad and stepmother’s house was my pain. Her constant struggle with trying to extinguish her jealousy and finally love her step-sister without restrictions was so real I couldn’t help but forgive her as soon as those thoughts crossed her mind. Her moments with her stepmother and dad filled me with more emotions than the actual drama of the story. I just adore seeing flawed people finally communicating and healing each other. Bailey was a sweetheart but then the author made it seem like she was going to cheat on her husband?? And for what? Literally no reason. Paige Toon is the bestselling author of fifteen adult novels and three young adult titles, and her books have sold almost 2 million copies worldwide.Toon tells the story from one end of the spectrum to another; heart-wrenching pain from secrets and hurts, then soaring love that fills the reader with joy. It is an addicting read! Toon urges us to risk everything, to never play it safe when it comes to the heart, and to know that caring is always, always, worth the cost' Caroline Leavitt If there’s more she’s written that is anything like this, people, let me know….because I thoroughly enjoyed this. PDF / EPUB File Name: Only_Love_Can_Hurt_Like_This_-_Paige_Toon.pdf, Only_Love_Can_Hurt_Like_This_-_Paige_Toon.epub The title really says it all, this is going to hurt a lot. Every relationship seems to be strained, whether it’s family, friendship or romantic. I cried, I laughed and my heart completely broke for these characters. Only love can hurt like this.

I usually reserve the spring/summer Paige Toon release for my summer holiday however having read this ARC in November, I can only ask WHAT ON EARTH WILL I READ NOW?! About 75% of the story is told from Wren’s point of view and the narrator’s interpretation of the character was a seamless fit. Loved her voice tone. When we begin getting Anders’s point of view, it’s at a pivotal point in the story and the narrator brought the right level of angst, sadness and tone I was hoping to hear. Both delivered great performances. I feel hard for this book about love, family, obligations, grief, expectations, moving on and second chances. This book has heart and tugged at my heart strings. I instantly liked both main characters. They had great banter which I adored. The supporting characters of Bailey (Wren's sister) and Jonas (Anders brother) are both likeable and add to the storyline in their own ways. The mix of characters worked well. Wren is strong and determined. She knows her own mind and looks to the future. Wren meets Anders, who lost his wife four years ago and still struggles to move on. Anders and Wren have an electric connection, but Anders has a secret--keeping him from igniting his feelings towards Wren. They keep crossing paths, Wren is moving toward Anders, certain he feels the same way, but never acting on his connection.Paige Toon's writing is emotional and riveting. Even while her novel was breaking my heart into tiny pieces, I couldn't put it down' Jill Santopolo There’s a lot to love it’s not just a romance, it’s about love and family, loss and healing, learning to live again and accept. My mother has always told me to trust my instincts. But it’s hard to trust your instincts when they’re breaking your heart.

I loved the dynamics of these characters, from feeling on the outside, to being engulfed by so much love. I went into this book fairly blind, with only the knowledge that I've never read a Paige Toon book I didn't love. As soon as I found out this book was set Indiana, a place that firmly has my heart, I was in love. And oh wow am I thankful to have received an early copy of this one. This is a book I will be encouraging everyone to read because it’s just such a beautiful, emotive masterpiece. Paige Toon is one of my favourite authors, predominantly because she always puts a little bit of her heart and soul in to her characters and storytelling, and you just feel that instant connection so naturally and fluently through the books. Only Love Can Hurt Like This is a beautiful plot set mainly in the US around Indiana, which was a beautiful setting to be immersed in for the summer of peach harvesting and corn cropping on the family farms. The author is known for writing gutwrenching novels, and hits the mark again with this wonderful tale' The SunThe setting is wonderful as well it’s like a British girls idealised version of America, long summer days, handsome strangers, country farms and fire flies at night. I’ve never read a book by Paige Toon before and I will not be reading another. That means I have no comparison to her other works but the writing in this book was horrendous.
