About this deal

One thing that becomes clear from the book is that Horn is first and foremost a producer, not a musician. In the 1970s, he worked as a session musician, built his own studio, and wrote and produced singles for various artists. For years he did nothing but stick the boot into them during interviews, but now, even though he states that neither Propaganda nor Frankie were very good musicians (which is apparently why FGTH never appeared at Live Aid - they were terrified of messing up on stage), in other respects he’s quite conciliatory.

He began his career in the early 70s as a bassist with the Ray McVay orchestra, best known as the house band on TV’s Come Dancing. In addition, Downes is also working on television, film and production music for a London West End film production company, Original Production Music Ltd.We all do this from time to time (and to be fair, when it comes to some of the music Horn has produced, some tangents are what makes the tracks great). She was smaller than I expected but somehow seemed to grow larger as I got to know her, purely through the force of her personality. In 2009, Downes along with Tony Iommi, Ian Gillan and the former Wimbledon tennis champion Pat Cash, went to Armenia, and were presented with state medals from the President of Armenia for their efforts in the Rock Aid Armenia project. The Trevor Horn booking fee depends on different factors like the date, location, and market activity.

But they were good, the bass player’s riffs for Welcome to the Pleasuredome and Two Tribes were great, he’s a talented guy. Oldfield was a fan of the Buggles song "Video Killed The Radio Star" and described Horn as like being a judge in a courtroom when presenting some of his ideas for the album, to which Horn would either nod or shake his head.I rang her to see what time she would arrive: “Grace, we’ve got the tracks down, they’re really cool, you should come down. A song, "Extraordinary Life" from their previous album, Phoenix (2008), was chosen as the trailer for US's biggest reality TV show America's Got Talent. Relaxed and amiable at 73, with a gentle, Durham accent, the white-haired, bespectacled muso doesn’t exactly come across as a record-industry titan. Far too modest to sing his own praises, I’ll eulogise on his behalf; Trevor Horn is a genius and Adventures In Modern Recording gives you a good idea why. He remembers is slightly differently, saying that I opened proceedings by saying, "Ian, Orson Welles is dead, so only you will do," but either way, he came down and he did it in one take, all of it, "Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Grace Jones, Slave to the Rhythm," and off he went again.
