Purposefully compact for ultra-tight storage spaces such as those found in campervans and trailer tents etc., the Thetford Porta Potti 145 is a comfortable, practical Portable Toilet. All Thetford Toilets are easy to clean and maintain.Over the years the 'Porta Potti' name has become so widely used and accepted that it has become a generic term used to describe all Portable Toilets, rather than a specific range of Thetford products. As the name implies a Porta Potti is a portable toilet that provides convenience and complete independence from fixed toilet systems. Thetford Portable Toilets are commonly used by campers, whether it be tent camping or trailer tents but are also frequently found in van conversions and campervans owing to their compact dimensions. The truth is there is no end to the number of places one might need a Portable Loo. One of the handiest features for me is the toilet paper holder. Before having this, my toilet paper got placed all over the van. I never knew where it would be when I needed it. Since I had nowhere to keep it in my toilet area, it usually ended up in a cabinet and out of the way just when I needed it the most.
Typically very comfortable and robust with smooth ergonomic edges, the Thetford Porta Potti 365 has larger dimensions like the 165 giving it a more practical seat height. It is also fitted with a level gauge for convenient notification of when the waste tank is full. Piston pump flush ensures powerful bowl cleaning, with both bellows and piston pumps easy to locate and replace when required from our spares department. Distinctive in shape and seating height, similar to that which you are accustomed to from your toilet at home. With compact dimensions like the 145 but equipped with a level indicator to warn you well in advance when the waste-holding tank needs emptying. The manually operated piston pump provides easy and powerful flushing. The good news is, like all Thetford Toilets it is fitted with a clean system for emptying that includes an air release button for a smooth flow. The bad news is, guys get to empty the toilet; come on, you didn't think you were going to get out of that job did you! Also supplied with free chemicals to get you started. Flush Water Tank - a mixture of water and flush-water fluid such as Aqua Rinse Plus is poured directly into the flush-water top tank. This mixture is designed to clean the bowl and helps prolong the life of the seals after each use. There are 3 types of flushing mechanism; piston and bellows, both a kind of manual pump that require minimum effort, and a push button electric flush. Electric flush of course offers the most convenience (sorry couldn't resist) but in truth it really offers most benefit where physical limitations make it necessary due to illness, injury or disability. Electric flush carries a higher cost which for the average user is difficult to justify, given the ease of use and effectiveness of piston and bellows pumps. The flushing system on the 565e is a simple process and of course, made easier with the electric flush. The first step in flushing the toilet is to pump water into the bowl. You simply push the electric flush button and water will flow into the bowl.

While not quite as comfortable as a home toilet, it’s the best I have seen on the market on a portable toilet. Once you are in a location where you can dump the tank, you can remove the sealed waste tank and dump it into an approved dumping area. Dumping is made easy with the rotating pour spout. You can aim it where you need it to go and dump it out with no splashing or mess. Although not quite the hands-off experience you may be used to in your home, it makes a great solution in a mobile living arrangement. When you push the pump button, it makes an electric pumping noise that is louder than the manual version. With the manual pump I had on my 365 model, I could pump harder or softer depending on what I needed. The softer you pump it the quieter it is. If you are up in the middle of the night and someone else is sleeping, you can pump it softly and barely even hear it. As an example, the Dometic toilet that I recently reviewed has a smaller opening, making it feel too small for an adult to use on a regular basis. Smooth Flushing System
