Thanks to the Scotch Whisky Association’s rules, there is a fairly uniform process for making scotch, blended or single malt. Of course, each distillery makes its own minor changes which sets them apart from everyone else. Malting The Macallan, like a keeper of time and which houses the rarest original whiskies of all vintages in sherry casks, has selected the best oak casks to produce The Macallan AERA, a highly complex classic Macallan style of dried fruit flavours and aromas, with sweet hints of chocolate and honey, to celebrate and commemorate every precious moment in life. Macallan 12 is a Single Malt Scotch that has been aged for 12 years in oak. It is closest to the Highland/Speyside style and is full of rich caramel, vanilla, and hot spice notes. What is Scotch? The Macallan AERA is a single malt whisky inspired by important milestones in life and specially created to celebrate and commemorate these moments. Life is a journey of many different processes, and the journey of the oak cask gives whisky its unique flavour. The Macallan was founded in 1824 by farmer and school teacher Alexander Reid. Reid’s farmer produced barley, and what should anyone do with extra barley in the winter? Distill it of course!
