About this deal

It has excellent battery life. Moto should have provided a 15W faster charger for the pittance that would cost. Sound – Stereo but more for clear voice – Pass(able) Screen orientation is an issue. The combo Accelerometer and Gyroscope are very sensitive, and the slightest movement sends it to landscape. I had to turn autorotation off.

It is an entry-level 5G phone using the Qualcomm SDF+480+ SoC. Nothing is wrong with it, but nothing is outstanding, either. The Motorola Moto G82 5G has a 5,000mAh battery, the same capacity seen in a large and ever-increasing number of Moto-series phones. However, it’s good to see this capacity retained when this is a slightly slimmer handset than plenty of others in the Moto G family. Camera Setup: Camera Feature: Camera Feature: Dual Capture, Spot Color, Night Vision, Cinemograph, Portrait, Live Filter, Group Selfie, Pro Mode (W/ Long Exposure), Artificial Intelligence: Low Light AI Selfie, Shot Optimization, Auto Smile Capture, Gesture Capture, Other Features: Selfie Animation, Face Beauty, RAW Photo Output, HDR, Timer, Active Photos, Assistive Grid, Leveler, Watermark, Burst Shot, Video Feature: Dual Capture, Spot Color, Timelapse (W/ Hyperlapse), Slow Motion, Other Features: Video Stabilization, Face Beauty, Video SnapshotReal-world stamina is good, but predictably doesn’t quite reach that of some rivals, such as the 60Hz Sony Xperia 10 IV and the old 720p Moto G50 5G, which have slightly less demanding components. Such phones can last almost two days, even with more demanding usage patterns.

Finally, the G62 has Moto Gestures, which are also Moto mainstays. You can, for example, turn the torch on by karate chopping in the air with the phone in-hand twice. Or flip the phone over onto its screen when on a flat surface to enable the Do Not Disturb mode. A high refresh rate like 120Hz makes scrolling through menus look much smoother. The Moto G62 isn’t the best showcase for the tech, as micro-stutters spoil the effect a bit. These tend to occur when you move from one part of the interface to another and are not a surprise or, in our opinion, a huge issue in a budget phone. The Moto G62 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus processor – a tweaked version of the original Snapdragon 480 from early 2021. Its aims are largely the same as the phone’s, to deliver 5G on a budget.Ultra-wide: S8MP sensor: Good colour and details/ although you can tell it is a different sensor to the primary. Detail is generally fair, and the processing avoids the painterly appearance of some affordable phones. However, if you were to compare the Motorola Moto G82’s pictures with those of one of the best budget phone cameras – the Pixel 6a, for example – then you’d notice better texture reproduction and more confident-looking detail down at pixel level in rivals. Selfie: The 16MP selfie has natural skin tones and details and a range of filters to enhance any image. Best in a day and office light This resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate make the Moto G62 display a big upgrade over that of the Moto G50 5G— an older phone that played the same role, as a cheap way to get a 5G phone.
