About this deal
However, I have read this book a thousand times before, and with every re-read, the story just gets better. I can’t believe how long it took me to read this book but I am so ready for the third book when it comes out! I am definitely a fan of a Helene/Elias relationship and I absolutely do not ship, nor believe Laia and Elias as a couple. As the characters had already been introduced, the story was able to get going quite quickly, and I adored their interactions with each other. In the city of Serra, Helene Aquilla finds herself bound to the will of the Empire's twisted new leader, Marcus.
When she is unable to prove this Helene is charged with finding Elias and exterminating the Scholars, Laila's people.I swear, I haven't read such a beautifully written bad character in a long time, one that thrives on power and bloodshed, on gore and brutality and perennial violence. Overall I don't think I will continue this series, even though so many people seems to love it, I was most definitely not one of them.
This second book provided a deeper look into the events that led up to the rise of the Martial Empire. My personal adoration for this genre are kick ass female characters that overcome their worst fears. The sequel to the explosive New York Times bestselling debut AN EMBER IN THE ASHES, that's captivated readers worldwide.Sabaa Tahir is a former newspaper editor who grew up in California's Mojave Desert at her family's eighteen-room motel. com and The Christian Science Monitor praised the novel's way of subverting the young adult fiction genre's clichés. Overall this is a great sequel with a fun adventure but even though this book is thick, I wish we had more Helene. I wondered if I would be able to easily follow the stories of Laia, Elias and Helene after more than a year away from them, but I needn't have worried.
