About this deal

Agricola Cottini, Bianco di Custoza Tenuta La Falcona DOC, 2020 – Silver in The Autumn Tasting 2021 ORIGIN: the origin of the Cortese vine, which in the Custoza area is known as Bianca Fernanda, is not specific, but it is believed that it derives from the provinces of Alessandria, Novara, and Tortonese and has been known in Piedmont since the 18th century also with dialectal terms corteis, courtesia and courteis. The specification grants it from 0 to 30 percent. The winery’s vineyards are among the most extensive in Verona covering 137 hectares, which they own, and another 68 that are leased. Recommended previously also in The Sunday Times as a “party wine that won’t give you a headache.” They can’t all be wrong, can they’ The colour is so lovely I could happily just look at it let alone drink it. Forget the old, sweet unfashionable rosés of the past; this is a dry, refreshing blend of predominantly Grenache, with Syrah and Mourvèdre which has no oak aging. Deliciously thirst-quenching, strawberry fruit flavours. You will not want to put it down. Add fields here

The village consists of a central settlement and 3 detached, but close, quarters: Valbusa (west – 45°22′29.2″N 10°47′20.2″E / 45.374778°N 10.788944°E / 45.374778; 10.788944), Gorgo (east – 45°22′45.5″N 10°48′17.7″E / 45.379306°N 10.804917°E / 45.379306; 10.804917) and Bellavista (south – 45°22′19.3″N 10°47′36.7″E / 45.372028°N 10.793528°E / 45.372028; 10.793528). Its territory includes the surrounding little localities of Bagolina, Balconi Rossi, Coronini, [8] Marognalonga, Monte Godio, Sgaripola and Vantini. Pale lemon yellow, with pear, and citrus aromatics, and some fresh apple. Palate has some textural weight, being slightly oily, with some ripe pear, then crisp apple and citrus on the finish, which is a touch salty, dry and gently phenolic. This is a bright, good-value, unoaked, fresh white with some character. The Veneto area in northeastern Italy produces the white DOC wine known as Bianco di Custoza (or just Custoza). Although not very big, the Custoza wine production region takes up most of the southern portion of the morainic hill range that runs between Verona and Lake Garda (Do Custoza wines age well in 2018). The Custoza region encompasses the areas once occupied by the towns of Sommacampagna, Villafranca di Verona, Valeggio sul Mincio, Peschiera del Garda, Lazise, Castelnuovo del Garda, Pastrengo, Bussolengo, and Sona. History of Custoza wine appellationLocated 10 minutes from both Verona and Lake Garda, Custoza’s strategic position is key to tourism in the region, which is dotted with theme parks, gardens, paths, nature trails, extremely close to cities of art.

For over two decades, the Consortium has been promoting the adoption of integrated pest management techniques, favouring organic and eco-sustainable cultivation methods. Food pairing? Anything. Really. Both wines have the mettle, depth, breadth and vitality, but also, most importantly, dignified grace, to pair with pretty much anything. I say ‘dignified grace’ because these are not shouty, showy wines that will overshadow delicate dishes. At the same time, they have the gumption to hold their own with shouty, showy food. You could pair these wines across the spectrum, from ceviche to steak. I recently had a meal with the most beautiful roast venison, and I wish I could have tried this wine with it. I’m willing to bet good money it would have outstripped the red wines we had on the table. There are few wines, red and white, I can think of which could be this catholic and generous when it comes to food. The rich gastronomic tradition of our territory with which Custoza is blended every day makes it ideal for welcoming tourists and wine lovers,” Bricolo says. It tastes fresh and fragrant with floral aromas of chamomile and white flowers with some fruit notes. Easy to drink, it offers strong minerality without too much acidity. Although intended to be savored while young, the wine has potential for aging. Sustainability and territorial identity are the key pillars of Custoza. In virtue of the high share of representativeness of the Consortium – standing at about 90% in respect to the total of the designation – it has obtained the erga omnes recognition.Although it may be paired with many other foods, custoza wine is typically served with fish. The best pairings include raw prawns, tuna or swordfish carpaccio, octopus, and baby octopus, but pasta and risotto topped with fish sauce also work nicely.
