About this deal

Her latest book is a memoir, Unraveling: What I Learned About Life While Shearing Sheep, Dyeing Wool and Making the World’s Ugliest Sweater. That long, hard work, which required us to be outside in all weathers, as well as a continuing daily need for long walks to explore rocky shoreline, bog and mountain, has given me a deep and nourishing sense of connectedness to place that I feel drawn to share with others. Since the early years of the new millennium, she has taught shamanic dreaming, always with a focus of action out in the world: ‘What do you want of me? I have participated in several programs about menopause and aging but never felt it was an authentic, intimate discovery process. I couldn’t put this book down – Sharon Blackie puts into words things that I have felt for a long time but which I lacked the words to articulate.

This would have been a four star review, with the exception of the confusing and back-and-forth argument (in the TRICKSTER chapter - a nauseating and disturbing choice!

When we just can’t bear it any more, and want to grow wings and sprout feathers and fly off into the wilderness. These days we own just a small patch of land, and so I am focused more narrowly on the keeping of bees and hens, and the growing of vegetables and herbs. A pioneer in the spiritual ecology movement, her focus is on the transformative power of landscape archetypes and nature metaphors to reveal our true purpose and right relationship with the planet.
