Planet Hollywolf, a brand new visual essay by film critics Matty Budrewicz and Dave Wain on Jordan Belfort's lesser known career as a low budget movie producer The screenplay lends thematic shape to this wild ride of theft and debauchery: brought to heel by the Securities and Exchange Commission Belfort has agreed to step away from the industry entirely. In his farewell speech to his company’s troops, he becomes fired up by his own greedy, criminal rhetoric, and changes his mind. He reneges on his deal with the Feds — a decision that brings down the full weight of the FBI. Interview with Terence Winter (HD; 15:30) features audio of the film's screenwriter (the piece starts with a disclaimer that the such, I'm not sure the looser aspects of just cutting several actors loose at times was absolutely necessary. He did some despicable things in his life, and ruined the lives of a lot of other people in the process. The Wolf of Wall Street is comparable to seeing a car crash. It’s something you can’t look away from no matter how grisly the scene becomes. Watching this film can definitely turn your stomach at times, but it also serves as a cautionary tale in doing what it takes to get to the top. The story benefits largely thanks to such a great cast of characters, Leonardo DiCaprio especially, as well as Margot Robbie and Jonah Hill, who flourish under the direction of Scorsese. Video

The Wolf of Wall Street Roundtable– Essentially DiCaprio doing a lot of talking and Scorsese doing a lot of nodding while referring to the making of the film. Few filmmakers depict greed and amorality on screen like Martin Scorsese. Thrilling, glamourous, seductive: his unflinching eye sees all and refuses to look away. Nominated for five Academy Awards® including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) is a monstrous masterpiece, equal parts hilarious and horrifying.Wall Street After Hours, a brand new visual essay by film critic Simon Ward on the dark humour of Martin Scorsese Arrow Films is proud to present a director-approved 4K transfer (making its UK premiere) of this extraordinary ode to American excess, in a special edition as sleek and sharp as the Wolf himself. The Dolby Vision/HDR10 component of The Wolf of Wall Street certainly added something to the video quality. In previous HD renders you definitely don’t get such a wide range of contrast or depth in the shadow areas. Take for example the image of Belfort standing with his first wife Leah outside of Trump Tower. There is a dominant gold color that can be hard to replicate on screen and shadow areas behind the glass windows that easily jam up in HD quality. HDR can fill in those shadows with more color value because of the gain in bit depth. Plus, with 4x the resolution of 1080×1920 (HD), 2160×3840 (UHD) opens up the image for more detail. providing at least occasional emphasis on the lower end of things. Before anyone gets too excited, though, it's important to note the improvements are subtle and rarely produce the hoped-for jaw-dropping reactions. In other words, this disc is no Casino, but let's face it, The Wolf of Wall Street is a different, far less flashy entity. Shot by cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto (who would go on to photograph Silence and The Irishman for Scorsese), the film sports a colder, less elegant look to reflect New York's harsh concrete jungle and the financial world's sterile corporate atmosphere. Heightened clarity, better contrast, and bolder color distinguish this transfer, which - according to a Paramount press release - was "supervised by Scorsese,"but there's a limit to how far the picture's various elements can be pushed.
