To start creating the bear shape, use a sharp knife to remove a small curved portion from the larger 6-inch cake layer. Save the curved cake scrap for use later. This totally adorable teddy bear cake is much easier to make than you think! Whip up a batch of your favourite cake mix and pop it into a teddy bear shaped cake tin. Once you’ve baked and cooled the cake, have fun piping the bear’s fur using a grass tip and tasty chocolate buttercream icing! Gender reveal cake

Next, choose whatever color you want for the paws, feet, ears, nose, and even belly if desired. Take a knife and spread the frosting over this area so that it is nicely covered. Keep in mind that in this section the frosting will show through on your finished teddy bear.I highly recommend making the cake taller, so when you are creating the face of the teddy bear, it’s in portion to everything else. When your entire teddy bear is covered, leaving the paws and part of the ears uncovered, it is time to add the face. This vintage teddy bear cake is a timeless classic. Even though character pans aren’t very common anymore, you can easily make a teddy bear cake using your average round cake pan, and muffin tins. Making a cute teddy bear cake it’s so fun, and it will liven up the theme of your party! Happy Baking! I wanted the legs to be facing forward/up, so I carved away some of the cake and then attached the cupcake to the cake with frosting and inserted a straw through the cupcake and into the cake to help secure it. It worked well enough, but the safest thing would be to cut all the way through the cake so the cupcake legs would be resting on the surface below.

Once combined, add powdered sugar, salt, vanilla, and enough milk to make it moist. Mix together the mixture until your frosting comes together. In this cake recipe, you need 1 cup buttermilk; if you don’t have any buttermilk on hand, you can easily use 1 cup whole milk mixed with 1 Tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar to make your own. Before using turn the mixer on low and mix for 2 minutes to push out any air bubbles or use a rubber spatula to push out the air bubbles. (You may need to repeat this step when frosting the outside of the cake). The inspiration for the shape came when I was actually making another cake. I had baked a two-layer, six-inch cake and made some cupcakes with the extra batter from the recipe.

Welcome!

Use a round cutter to cut curved sections from two of the cupcakes. These will end up being placed on the head for ears. Save any scraps for use later. Then use the remaining vanilla buttercream and mix in a small amount of the chocolate buttercream to create a lighter brown color for the belly, nose, paws and ears. You probably don’t need the strips, but I didn’t want to take any chances on having trouble removing a cupcake since I needed all six for the bear shape.

Add a 2/3 cup of vanilla buttercream over the cake. Place another cake layer cut side down over the top. Repeat the process for another layer — Crumb coat and freeze for 30 minutes. The video in the recipe card below will walk you through the step-by-step process with a visual aid of how we decorated our teddy bear cake. However, feel free to get creative, and make any changes to decorate your teddy bear cake just as you want it. Using a Teddy Bear Cake Pan Let The Cake Cool. When you are making any kind of cake it’s important to plan ahead and allow enough time. When you bake your cakes, you’ll want to allow them to completely cool off before you add frosting to them. If you try to frost the cakes too soon, they will simply melt the frosting and you’ll become frustrated.
