Use a fork to dip the almonds in the melted chocolate so you can tap off any excess chocolate before transferring to the cocoa powder mixture Of course, it’s worth noting that there with any indulgence, it’s good to pay attention to the amount you eat. I’ve certainly had to learn this over the years, that even when you’re eating healthy, plant-based foods, you can still eat too much of it if you’re not careful. Key Ingredients Yes, dark chocolate-covered almonds are a healthy treat. Here are some of the nutritional elements found in almonds:

Instead of coating the almonds completely in chocolate, try dipping only half of each nut. This will make them a little less chocolate-y. Another review suggested that eating 45 grams of chocolate per week lowers cardiovascular disease risk by 11%. Consuming more than 100 grams per week does not appear to produce health benefits ( 15). In the long term, this should cause much less cholesterol to lodge in the arteries, resulting in a lower risk of heart disease. If you choose to let them set on the counter, keep in mind it will take a few hours. To make it speedier, set them in the freezer. These are just the highlights. There are a lot of nutritients from almonds. I definitely add a few almonds to my diet every day now. Dark Chocolate is Healthy Use a fork to separate each individual almond, and place them on a sheet pan or a piece of parchment paper. Try to drain off excess chocolate from each piece.

This is a recipe for chocolate-covered almonds, but you could very easily substitute any other nut for the almonds. ORAC stands for oxygen radical absorbance capacity. It’s a measure of the antioxidant activity of foods. One of the functions of NO is to send signals to the arteries to relax, which lowers the resistance to blood flow and therefore reduces blood pressure. Remove each almond with a fork. Use a fork to pull each almond off of the sheet one at a time, shaking the fork to let excess chocolate drip off, then place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. (It’s helpful to have a partner or friend help here!) If you’re planning to add flaky salt or sprinkles, add them here. For best results, use high-quality chocolate for a rich and indulgent taste. It really does depend on which brand you buy. I suggest a brand that melts well and also tastes good. Ghiradelli, Godiva, or even Trader Joe's has their own chocolate that is great to work with.Looking to treat a loved one to something special? At Godiva, our selection of dark chocolate gifts make the perfect birthday present, like our luxuriously wrapped golden boxes that are just as good to look at as they are to eat. You can even add your own personalised gift tag to tell that special someone just how much you care. This is the same across all of our anniversary, wedding and thank you dark chocolate gifts. Dark Chocolate: If you're familiar with melting chocolate, use the dark chocolate brand you know melts well. You could use white chocolate. For vegan/dairy-free, use vegan dark chocolate chips. How’s that for a list? I like it! But the thing is, it’s not always easy to find the perfect sweet treat. Sometimes I’ll make my Vegan Chocolate Chia Pudding recipe or maybe even have a banana with a couple of dark chocolate chips. For an elegant presentation, consider drizzling melted white chocolate over the hardened chocolate-covered almonds.

However, one study in people with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure showed no effect, so take this with a grain of salt ( 8). It’s possible that people who are already receiving treatment for high blood pressure may not get any additional benefit from adding cocoa flavanols to their diet.

A 2017 clinical trial found that subjects who consumed almonds with or without dark chocolate showed improved LDL cholesterol levels ( 3). You might have seen dark chocolate almonds at the store, but the store-bought ones are often full of all kinds of junk to give them that perfectly-even, glossy outside. Make it citrusy: Enhance the flavor with a touch of citrus by adding approximately 1 teaspoon of orange zest. This recipe only requires two ingredients: dark chocolate, and almonds. Ideally, you want to use high quality raw almonds. Avoid using salted almonds. The higher the cocoa or cacao percentage and the fewer other added ingredients, the higher the antioxidant benefits and the higher the iron content, so look for a product with at least 60% cocoa or cacao solids. Cacao contains higher levels of antioxidants than cocoa, so go for cacao-based chocolate bars when possible. These Vegan Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds are a perfect lightly sweet treat. Here’s the nutritional estimate based on the current recipe: This recipe is incredibly simple, and you only need 2 ingredients. The nuts are amazing, and store really well for a few weeks.
