About this deal

You have to decide for yourself whether the luxury of the self-emptying base is worth the higher price. We hope our iRobot Roomba i7+ review helps. The robot looks excellent - that’s for sure. Nevertheless, it would be better if there were also other colours. But the Roomba i7 came out with flying colours and removed a whopping 94% of the sand on the laminate. But this isn’t a big deal since you’ll probably rarely use the robot vacuum at night - Unless you want to annoy your neighbours ?. Obstacle detection However, the iRobot Roomba i7 obviously can’t achieve a perfect result in corners because of its round shape.

Once you have a map, you can split it into rooms, and set no-go and no-clean areas. If you really want, then there’s also the old-fashioned battery-powered barrier in the box: set it to a line or radius mode, and plonk it where you don’t want the robot to go. I think managing the map is easier. But the Roomba i7 Plus Robot Vacuum also offers excellent performance paired with premium features.

The robot vacuum part of the iRobot Roomba i7+ looks much like any other: you get a round cleaner that’s wider than it is tall. This means it can fit beneath a lot of furniture, but it may be a little too wide to get between some chair legs. The device has an excellent finish and looks very classy. The materials used seem to be of very high-quality.

Cleaning crumbs is now as easy as “Roomba, clean under the kitchen table”. This intuitive experience only from iRobot means that a request to your voice assistant* or via the iRobot Home App enables the Roomba® i7/i7+ Robot Vacuum to clean up mess for you, right when it happens – immediately clean that spot and consider it done. You can also set up individualised cleaning schedules. For example, you can let the i7 Plus clean the kitchen and living room on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9 a.m. That’s because the fast-spinning side brush "flung" some light and grainy lentils across the room from time to time. Test result for oat flakes (removed 45g of 50g | 90 %) What you get here is regular maintenance cleaning: the Roomba i7+ will cope with most daily spills, but you’ll need to take out your standard vacuum cleaner once a week or so to fully deal with your home. The Roomba i7 Plus doesn’t have an automatic carpet detection function. Thus, it also doesn’t increase the suction power automatically when it drives on a carpet. That said, even if you run your Roomba i7+ daily, that adds up to a rather tiny operating cost every two to three months. That’s not too shabby, but you might bristle at how much cash iRobot stands to make on these bag replacements. However, it’s quite expensive: with the Clean Base, the RRP is similar to that of the Dyson 360 Heurist, which proved to be more powerful in tests. You’ll have to decide if the convenience of automatic emptying is worth the money, compared to a robot that cleans deeper.

The dust bag in the clean base is large and takes quite a long time to fill up, depending on how dirty your home is. If you have pets, it’ll fill up much faster.Developing the smart maps doesn't take much time, in the grand scheme of things, the better part of a week. From there, you can tell Roomba to clean specific rooms in your space after you've designated those spaces using the iRobot app.
