Living in the UK means that we’re not always blessed with sunny Aussie weather, so we often turn to self tan to give us skin that screams ‘sunbathing, beach holidays and vitamin D’ (without any of the harmful UV rays). But chances are, we’ve all had our fair share of fake-tan mishaps. You can reapply once a week or once every two weeks. It is a personal choice and it is all about finding out what works best for you!

So when trying out the tan, I followed the same prep routine that I have for years. Exfoliate off the old tan (I also like to use the Bondi Sands Fake Tan remover for this), moisturise and wait an hour. This tan has the same foaming mousse consistency as the original Aero Tan. Begin with a Bondi Sands tan remover like the Bondi Sands Self Tan Eraser to gently and effectively exfoliate the skin, using the Bondi Sands Reusable Application Mitt on more stubborn and flaky areas. After rinsing, apply a thin layer of Bondi Sands Thirsty Skin Hyaluronic Acid Serum on to wet skin to hydrate, then finish with a moisturiser.A. Now that your body is prepped, find somewhere with good lighting, in front of a mirror. Being able to see where you applying will ensure you have covered all areas and rubbed it all in.

Now the make or break for me is not how deep a tan goes but how long it lasts. Some tans can give you the most beautiful colour, but after two days, you look like an orange reptile, which is not the look I'm really going for. What a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t looking to get darker; I wanted the tan to give me a more-even complexion, and to give my melanin its time to shine. It was super-easy to apply, and I didn’t need to wash it off after. My all-white-everything bedding thanked me as, although I used long sleeves for precaution, there was no residue left on them. It dried to touch very fast and I got on with errands as the tan developed.

So after having my dramatic moment, I let my tan dry and got ready for bed. YES, you read that right. I slept in it. Was I scared that I was going to wake up resembling She-Hulk? A little, but I'm doing this for you guys. The main moral of this story is to really not judge a book by its cover. This is easily one of the nicest tans I've ever tried and the colour once you wash it off is a strong 10/10. I just won't be going out into society during that in-between phase. Would I buy it again?First of all, make sure you are freshly showered. Get rid of that dead layer of skin by exfoliating from head to toe. Once you get out of the shower, make sure you do not put on any moisturiser or deodorant. Also make sure you are completely dry. You want your skin to be like a blank canvas, completely bare and ready to be painted. If you wish, you can put a little bit of moisturiser on your hands, feet, elbows and knees. The moisturiser will work like a barrier to the tan and by applying to those areas you will find they do not go too dark! (The tan likes to grab to those areas more than others) For an even streak free application try the Bondi Sands Application Mitt.
