Stokes-Chapman can write fascinating, three-dimensional characters... Meanwhile, extensive research brings the period so much to life you can taste it... full of buried family histories and fantastical archaeological theories, Pandora is a readable, solid debut Natasha Pulley, Guardian

On the couch: FIVE surprising ways you can use a psychology degree - from clinical and occupational to forensic psychology James Martin makes a public appearance at BBC Good Food Show weeks after announcing career break amid cancer battle

But to know what is inside the crate, what else her uncle might be hiding… It is this that haunts her nowIn all versions of the myth, due to her curiosity, Pandora opened the vase/box left in her care which contained ‘gifts’ that were then released upon the world. These were noted as Illness, Violence, Deceit, Misery and Want. In what ways were these portrayed within the novel? Inside Brad Pitt's HQ of broken dreams in New Orleans: Hollywood star's nonprofit office in shambles following years of legal battles The much-loved labrador that sniffed out her owner's breast cancer, saving her life and inspiring a new charity that's gone on to save countless more This intricately plotted novel draws on a number of Greek myths, chief among them those found in Aeschylus’s Oresteia. It is the story of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, beginning with the brutal sacrifice of their 16-year-old daughter, Iphigenia. Pandora was such an all consuming read. I loved how it brought Georgian England together with Greek mythology. The result was a stunning story, with clever characters, ones to really invest in and some to revile.I'm A Celeb's Tony Bellew and Nigel Farage leave viewers 'heaving' as they are forced to drink blended penises during gruesome trial: 'This is vile!' There is a level of ambiguity in Pandora in regards to the pithos being the real Pandora’s Box. What are your thoughts? I received an audio copy of this novel from the publisher, Harper Audio, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Chanelle Hayes showcases her impressive 9st weight loss in a yellow bikini as she soaks up the sun in Spain But retellings come in many forms and guises. In my debut novel Pandora I wanted to explore female agency and the complexities of human nature, all through the richness of a Georgian lens using the myth of Pandora’s box as an anchor. All the works I’ve chosen have interpreted the Greek myths in different ways, but they are all testament to how these ancient stories have got under our skin.
