The secret society seemed very random to me since they never mention the society as a whole and just a few times they met up to kill people. They even had a scene where Ryat from the Ritual was introduced to the guys and before you even blinked he was gone.. it was so random. He’s what any girl would call a walking red flag. But I’ve never claimed to be a smart woman when it comes to men. Why should he be any different? Straddle my hips and carve your name into my chest, princess. I feel like this was a lot of personal awakening for them and I didn't really feel the "connection" or "love". It wasn't totally in your face. Especially the first half for me. The second helped, but it wasn't 100% for me. Thus why I am not a writer and this author is. My heart broke and I got teary at a couple parts towards the end. Another thing, the reason Colt releases the sex tape is because Raylee starts dating a guy named Nate and he doesn’t like it and now decides to make her his “slut” forever. But then still proceeds to have sex with OW 🤔 These two walk the razor-thin line between love and hate and it makes for explosive chemistry and hot-as-sin scenes. Some of the novels she read have left her laughing, others smiling while others have had her in tears. They have made her grateful for the life she had or have made her compare her own life to what she reads.Yes this is a step-brother/sister romance. Degration is a huge trigger warning for this one folks - if that aint your style, this aint for you. Honestly author tried so hard to portray him as a possesive and demanding ALPHA but failed miserably and turned him into a manipulative little piece of shit. In the beginning i fr tried super hard to consider him hot and dominating but by the end of the book, i realised that he's nothing but a condescending asshole.

Wow this was my first Shantel book it is was definitely a ride. I can see way everyone is raving over the Lords series. There’s a lot of dirty spicy with some very strong kinks. It’s certainly unsettling in places- and for some, it may be unsettling in not a good way. For others, it’s unsettling in that captivating taboo way, the boundary pushing entracing kind of way. Shantel has a go big or go home approach to the story telling here as she unflinchingly embraces all that makes these characters (and some fun side characters) just so messed up. It’s certainly the kind of connection that makes you question yourself for being curious about it, and I did love how bold they both were in pursuing what they wanted and were pretty much willing to burn the world (and each other) down to get it. Colton is toxic AF but don't we love them that way?? He has "hated" Raylee ever since she became his stepsister. And he will not let her go. He will not stop tormenting her and honestly it's the dark romance equivalent of a boy pulling your pigtails and I am honestly here for it. As toxic as it is, the man knows his job!! And he has no problem proving that to Raylee every single time. That was the only cool thing she did, she was so up Colt’s ass that she could never stand up to him and say no. Shantel writes smut on a level with Trent Evans. I’ve tried to finish other works by her but nothing compares to her Lords universe.

While The Five had more of an exploration in femme fatale mystique, this was celebrating your inner slut. The only thing I got out of the book was the sexual attraction between the characters and not a legitimate emotional connection.But I'm tired of watching others get a piece of what is mine. So, I did what any rational man would do—I staked my claim, showed the world that she belonged to me, and I’m going to do whatever it takes to make her believe it too.
