The Galaxy A34 can capture video on its main camera at up to 4K@30fps resolution. The ultrawide camera is capped at 1080p@30fps, and interestingly enough, so is the 2x zoom mode on the main camera. Add effects to your webcam shots or do a photo collage. Set a timer for your friends to prepare before making a shot. Edit your photos by blurring out unwanted images or pixelating them. You can even use their spot remover to remove pimples from your face in your pictures! The iPhone 14 has excellent stabilization all around. EIS can be had on any of its cameras, and the main one also gets the benefit of OIS. For the first time ever, there is a toggle in the Camera app settings to disable EIS, which allows us to capture the following three-way splices. The 4K videos from the ultrawide camera are equally brilliant. They excel in everything and have to be among the most detailed ones we've seen, as far as ultrawide cameras go. There's a Pro mode for the main camera, which lets you tweak exposure (ISO, shutter speed, compensation), set white balance, or focus manually. There's a Pro mode, too, where you can adjust parameters yourself - aperture for the main camera (f/1.4, f/1.6, f/1.8, f/2.0, f/2.2, f/2.5, f/2.8, f/3.2, f/3.5, f/4.0), ISO, shutter speed (1/4000s to 30s), exposure compensation (-4 to +4EV in 1/3 stop increments), and white balance (presets and specific light temperature). You can also choose the metering mode (matrix, center-weighted, and spot) and the focus mode (single, continuous, and manual). If the phone thinks you messed up the exposure, an icon will pop up to warn you.
The third mode is Apple's new Action Mode. It is meant for very dynamic scenes, like sports and offers additional smoothing at the cost of some resolution and a narrower field of view. It does a splendid job as well. Here is a running sample for your evaluation. The 13MP selfie camera does fairly well in low light. The detail is good, and so are the colors, particularly skin tones. Some skin texture is preserved and comes through, which is great to see. Moving on to the 10MP, 3x telephoto camera. It is also a familiar affair. Just like the main camera, this one does not shoot in the expected resolution. Instead, shots are saved in exactly 12MP (4000 x 3000). This does mean that there is some upscaling at play, which is not ideal. Then again, Samsung has been doing this for years now. The differences are very minute and often not there at all. For instance, the iPhone 14 seems to sharpen finer detail just slightly more than its predecessor and consistently has slightly shorter exposure times, presumably thanks to its brighter lens. The video bitrate is about 56Mbps for the 4K footage and about 100Mbps for the 8K videos. Audio is always recorded in stereo with 260Kbps bitrate, and it always sounds great. Step 2. Ensure access to your camera during this time because the test capture will start automatically. There is an 'AI' toggle in addition to that because, of course, there needs to be.
