This book has been great for my 5 year old. We've owned it for about 6 months now. We read it pretty frequently at first, and coupled it with discussions about interrupting. The illustrations and concepts in the book were familiar for my son— one setting is an elementary classroom, and he was in kindergarten when we got the book, so it made an impact. Now, usually all we have to do is give a gentle reminder that he just interrupted us, and my son will apologize and sit tight until it's his turn to talk. In fact, his thoughts are so important to him that when he has something to say, his words begin to wiggle, and then they do the jiggle, then his tongue pushes all of his important words up against his teeth and he erupts, or interrupts others. Louis believes that his thoughts are of the upmost importance out of anything. That is until one day he gets interrupted he realizes he does not like it at all. Later that day when he goes home he tells his mom that story and she basically says now you know how we all feel. So from that day on he learns to no longer interrupt people and to wait his turn to speak. This is a story about a young boy named Louis is cannot control his speaking out. I really liked this book and thought it had a great lesson behind it. All of the students in my class realized the importance in waiting for your turn to speak. This book is about a little boy who cannot stop interrupting the people in his life. As he continues to interrupt these people, everyone is getting frustrated with him because they are unable to complete their thoughts.
