About this deal

The D-XLR is designed to have a 3.5mm TRS standard wired input. So, many other 3.5mm standard TRS microphones will work with it. Which version should you buy? Just to be clear with our readers, I have never used the DEITY D3 Pro, so I can’t say how it compares against the VideoMic NTG and the Comica CVM-VM20 when it comes to sound quality. On my Canon EOS R the VU meter goes from -40dB on the left to 0dB on the right, with the -12dB position also shown.

I bought this microphone for my Canon EOS R DSLM since I was filming some run and gun footage for a client where it wasn’t going to be possible to use a lav or boom mic. Unfortunately, it’s the internal rechargeable battery that slightly lets down this mic. In comparison, the rechargeable battery on the Rode Videomic Pro+ lasts 100hrs and can be swapped out for a pair of alkaline AA batteries.

Can I replace my Deity V-Mic D3 and D3 Pro TRRS Cable?

The main advantage the D3 Pro has over the VideoMic NTG is that it has a balanced output which makes it a better option if you want to use it as a wired connection on a boom.

Having two levels of a low-cut filter is a handy feature to have since in some circumstances you may not need to filter out frequencies below 150Hz. Position them about 2 to 4 feet in front of the camera and ask them to speak naturally. Now adjust your camera’s recording level so the speech levels peak between -12dB and -6dB.If you wish to connect a D3/D3 Pro to a Zoom H4n pro use the D-XLR adapter and turn on the phantom power. The Deity D3 and D3 Pro not only sound great but they’re also some of the more rugged on-camera mics around. Their mic tubes are made from aluminum alloy, unlike many of their rivals who opt for plastic in their mic’s construction. The V-Mic D3 Pro uses a built-in 320mAh lithium battery, which powers the mic for up to 51 hours. Unnecessary battery usage is avoided by an automatic power-off function that turns off the V-Mic D3 Pro after 15 minutes in standby mode. The internal battery recharges via USB in approximately two hours. In addition to recording with the iPhone, I also recorded directly to my Canon DSLR when shooting some video and I also connected the D3 Pro to my MacBook Pro so that I could use it as an external microphone for video conferences. Each time I used the microphone it performed admirably. One of the things I like the most about it is how versatile it is. You don’t have to be confined to using it to record video interviews – it can work just fine as a connected microphone for podcasting or vlogging, too. CONCLUSION
