About this deal

You'd probably enjoy it more if you were a fan of cricket though which is understandable with his sporting background.

Flintoff has also dedicated no less than 5 chapters (out of 24) to the 2005 ashes- in my opinion the greatest test series ever played. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. With a bit about how he met his wife Rachel and his daughter Holly being born but most of it is this - felt unsure about my batting then good about it when I was hitting it out of the park, then I hadn't bowled enough, then I bowled loads and was knackered, then I was injured (he did have a lot bless him, he must be dropping to bits) and had a jab to stop the pain. But Freddie Flintoff has had a moment to reflect and he's noticed that throughout his four decades, although there's been little method in the madness, there has been the occasional common thread. While cricket enthusiasts will appreciate the detailed accounts of matches and rivalries, the memoir could have been more accessible to a broader audience with additional context and explanations. The only chapter I skipped was the cricket/sport one just out of personal preference as I wouldn’t know what he was on about! While it has its moments of humor and charm, the book lacks the depth and structure needed to elevate it to the level of a standout sports autobiography.

It's part autobiography - mostly about his roles in Top Gear, Talk Sport and In a League of their Own. From one of Britain's most-loved national treasures, comes a much-needed Bible of straight-talking honesty and sharp observational humour: following an unprecedented time of collective global insanity, Freddie is ready to impart his effortless charm, wit and wisdom on a wild array of topics. It is filled with anecdotes, observations and the odd opinion all told with Fred’s trademark humour and no-nonsense style. Right, said Fred is a very easy book to read, once you take out the contents and the index etc, it's only 270 pages long.

There were some chapters that made me laugh and I thoroughly enjoyed it, however some of them I was not very interested in. Everything from the current state of cricket to presenting on Top Gear to Christmas and Getting Old. The book presents an account of Flintoff's journey from a Lancashire lad to becoming a cricketing hero.

Theres so much here that gives a great insight into "Freddies Mind/life, its sure to keep a psychologist busy for a very long time! But if you're reading this you're very unlikely to be expecting the author to come up with any solutions. Following his retirement from sport, he joined the panel of BAFTA-winning A League of Their Own and is a presenter on BBC's ever-popular and award-winning Top Gear. Each chapter Flintoff picks a topic and discusses it, with not much apparent connection between chapters, which is great because it makes it very easy to read. He literally describes every match in great detail, yet only mentions his wife and daughter fleetingly. His book wasn't what I expected - it wasn't an autobiography and it wasn't the collection of sporting anecdotes that I would normally expect from a book by a former international cricketer. Throughout, Fred shares his code for success, happiness and a life fully lived - and gives his readers a laugh, some joy, and (the occasional) pause for thought along the way. who ,and i mean this in a nice way as i am a big fan of both, Is reminding me more and more as the "new Clarkson" ! It’s hard to imagine anyone else having a career that spans sporting hero, TV star, musical performer and amateur boxer.
