About this deal

I've not actually measured this, and there's probably not a massive amount in it – but the express engages the pump after steaming milk, to flush the thermocoil to drop the temperature down to shot temp, the whole process probably takes 30 seconds or so.

If you were thinking of going for the Barista Express because you thought it was ultra convenient for getting great cup quality using freshly roasted high quality coffee beans, and you're hoping for a user experience closer to using a one-touch bean to cup coffee machine, then the Barista Touch Impress would be the obvious choice. Most of the mainstream coffee machine manufacturers, some of whom are doing their best to compete with Sage in the speciality coffee machine market, just don't have freshly roasted coffee beans at their core, they're still about 2nd wave big brand coffee.

Grind dose and extract all in one.

Overall, we found the design easy to use and clean – any smudges were easily buffed away with a soft cloth, for example, while the drip tray could be pulled out without issue for emptying. Any filter coffee that comes out while dosing can simply be brushed into the tray before emptying at a later stage. So I'm not just sharing what others have said about these machines, or rehashing other people's opinions, I'm telling you the opinion I've formed based on my experience with these machines.

I discovered this when I received the demo model, people in the US appear to have made judgments about this machine without trying it, and they've mainly come to the wrong conclusion. What I've seen in most threads and in video comments etc., is that the only thing different about the Impress is the tamping handle, that's not right.day. On Sun 22nd, that changed after the machine once again started with a loud buzz, then twice re run throughs…and then output Many espresso machine brands talk about pressure as if more is better, and harp on about “15 bars of pressure”, which does slightly irritate me. I'm going to leave the description of the Touch Impress there, as a lot of people shopping for the Barista Express are probably going to have to work quite hard to justify such a price jump, but if you're interested in finding out more: Not only that, but you can completely customise each coffee by tweaking the strength, amount of foam and milk temperature, and you can save these settings, you can also create and name your own personalised coffees.
