About this deal

The Los Angeles Times ' Gary Goldstein wrote "First-class Postman Pat delivers in fine style". [18] The Mareel review written by Caroline Malcolm wrote " Postman Pat: The Movie, was a surprise from start to finish...Mike Disa, who is known for his children's animations showed off his artistic style by yet again creating a movie that captivated children with CGI pleasures, but also enticed adults with intensely intelligent sociobites disguised as entertainment." [19] Accolades [ edit ] Postman Pat the movie is an entertaining tale for all the family, which sees Postman Pat auditioning for a talent show and then being duplicated by lots of “Pat-Bot” robots! I found that it’s one of those movies that you could enjoy as a parent watching alongside your children, you won’t be too bored. Seeing Postman Pat singing with the voice of Ronan Pat was great!

Postman Pat: The Movie - Wikipedia

For some absurd reason the studio created a marketing campaign for this film comparable to that of an actually meaningful theatrical release. This was probably due to Tom Hiddleston’s involvement, but is that enough to warrant the fifth installment of this by-the-numbers franchise? Apparently they thought so. As a home-entertainment product this may suffice and keep schoolgirls captivated, but how many more sequels until its young audience gets bored or Thinker Bell becomes obsolete. You guessed it, this is also a Disney Toon Studios work, the place where good generic ideas go to die and resurrect as bargain products. However, as bizarre as it might seem, some critics actually enjoyed it and were fairly positive towards it. Could this be because their expectations of a non-theatrical film are lower? We probably should be worried that such support might encourage the studio to open the next chapter in every multiplex that allows children in - all of them. The version of the theme song that Mr. Carbunkle plays for Pat on his phone is from the 1982 album. And despite Pat's efforts to tell his wife the truth about why he entered the competition, he fails and starts to become fearful that he might have pushed his family away. It isn't until shortly after Pat's departure for the final competition that Ben and Jess discover that there appears to be more than one Pat and Edwin Carbunkle's true intent is exposed. It turns out that Carbunkle is in fact an evil megalomaniac and is making these robots to try and take over the world. Ben then rushes to tell Sara and Julian the terrible truth about Mr Carbunkle's plan. After some inadvertently atmospheric early marketing spawned the unfortunate 'Creepy Paddington' meme, and more recently the BBFC slapped the film with a PG rating for mild sex references and bad language, there was all the more reason to wonder whether producer David Heyman and writer-director Paul King would obey the famous edict to "please look after this bear".The DVD cover had the film first rated as PG, this was later revived to its original U certificate before publication. In 2019, director Mike Disa uploaded a workprint of the movie that had a completely different story. [3] Postman Pat: The Movie - You Know You're the One (2013)". Rotten Tomatoes. Fandango . Retrieved 9 October 2021. It’s a more involved and in depth story than you get in the Postman Pat tv episodes, and perhaps a little more mature so younger or more sensitive viewers may be scared by the Pat-Bots depending on the child. Mr R was 2 when he first saw this in the cinema (now 3) and he was fine. Mr T (4) was initially scared so he didn’t see this in the cinema but when watching at home he didn’t feel scared and he loved the movie. Mr Z is 6 years old so getting a little old for Postman Pat but because this movie is more mature and has a more in depth story line he really liked it, both when watching in the cinema and when re-watching with the DVD at home. He said it was excellent, and I do think it’s a great choice for the whole family. It is an enjoyable movie and the whole cast have done a great job.

Even though Brian George voices Ajay in the movie, T.J. Ramini voices him when he raps and with one speaking line ''Now arriving Greendale Station, Please disembark to your left''.Emily Watson ( Everest, War Horse) and Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs have joined the voice cast for 3D animation Happy Family. The film is directed by Holger Tappe, who previously made Animals United, which was also produced by Timeless and Ambient. Carbuncle takes advantage of Pat's newfound celebrity to replace him with a robot – part of a convoluted plan to take over the world. (It didn't seem a particularly viable plan to me, but presumably the tinies take this sort of thing on trust.)

After running away from the PATBOT 3000 when it breaks the sorting office barrier, the SDS employies suddenly vanish.Allan Hunter of the Daily Express gave it three stars, and said "Kids are going to love Postman Pat: The Movie even if adults might find it sacrilegious in its treatment of their beloved childhood favourite... It's a bit Wallace & Gromit, a bit Doctor Who and just as silly and overexcited as a four-year-old after an excess of fizzy drinks." [17] In 2013, the story in Postman Pat Live from Premier Stage Productions was almost the same as this film. Some the early robots were based on the title character from the Disney and Pixar movie "WALL•E", Robot B3 from "Lost in Space" and a Dalek from the BBC science-fiction series "Doctor Who". The latter is referred to in the end credits as "Not a Dalek". It is unknown why Nikhil, Bonnie and Pumpkin were absent from the film, despite being major characters since their debuts. A famously cherished character across the Atlantic, it is possible Postman Pat will not connect with American audiences or generate the same love the British have for him. Not because he is not a great guy, but because the movie in his honor seems completely incoherent. Based upon the stop-motion animation series that ran on the BBC from the early 1980’s, this reinvention discards the beauty of the medium that made the character iconic and turns it into a bland computerized puppet. As if this wasn’t enough, the guys at DreamWorks Classics came to the conclusion that including a singing contest (on the vein of Britain’s Got Talent), robots, and warfare machinery would be amazing components to include. Really? Some things are better left untouched; you guys could have called Aardman Animations. They would’ve gotten it right.

Postman Pat: The Movie DVD (United Kingdom) - Blu-ray

This film marks the return of Miss Hubbard, Major Forbes and George Lancaster. Miss Hubbard was last seen doing a cameo role in Postman Pat and the Green Rabbit and George and Major Forbes have not appeared since Postman Pat and the Big Surprise and Postman Pat and the Mystery Tour. It's also the first mentioning of Julia Pottage although she hasn't been since Postman Pat's Christmas Eve. Gary Barlow was originally going to be Pat's singing voice, but was later changed to Ronan Keating. Meanwhile, in the performance, a Patbot performs instead of Pat, unbeknownst to the audience. Wilf arrives, knowing it to be a robot (after defeating a Patbot with a magnet at the sorting officer earlier), uses a magnet to unmask the Patbot. Then, the real Pat interrupts the performance and gives a speech on what's really important and how he forgot to take time for those he really cares about. As Carbunkle releases the first few Patbots to kill off Pat, Simon and Brown, revealing that he has had enough of them hindering his plans, Josh saves them by using Carbunkle's phone to turn off all the Patbots before they can kill Pat, Cowbell and Brown. Little does Pat suspect that his wife and friends from Greendale will arrive in the chaos. On 11 October 2004, it was announced that Postman Pat could soon be a star of the big screen if Hollywood bosses get their way. A number of leading American film studios, including Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Brothers and Universal Pictures, were understood to be among those seeking to acquire the film rights to a string of British television favourites, including Postman Pat. Universal and Twentieth Century, the Hollywood studios, had approached the British company Entertainment Rights about a possible film version of Postman Pat. Mike Heap, the chief executive of Entertainment Rights, confirmed that talks were taking place with a number of different film makers but refused to give details. Earlier in 2004, Prisons Minister Paul Goggins, MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East, revealed that one of the characters, old lady Mrs Goggins, who is often heard to sigh, "Eee, it's a bad job", was named after a relative. [1]Director: Paul King; Screenwriter: Paul King; Starring: Ben Whishaw, Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Nicole Kidman, Peter Capaldi; Running time: 95 mins; Certificate: PG Edwards, David (23 May 2014). "Postman Pat: The Movie is dull, dated, disappointing and fails to deliver". Daily Mirror . Retrieved 15 September 2014.
