It ties into the story and interactions happening nicely and reminded me a lot of the backgrounds from the show, especially with the pinks and blues. My favorites were definitely Naga and Korra's first meeting (though I had read this before), Korra and Asami being big sisters to Jinora and, wildly enough, the Bumi and Meelo team-up. Of course, Korra has a lot of time in the spotlight or even background appearances in comics that center around others. Friends for Life" - As a child living in the Southern Water Tribe, Korra finds a polar bear dog cub which has become separated from its pack in a storm. A Change in the Wind" - Korra, Asami, and Jinora have to deal with spirits that threaten to crash their airplane.

The newest entry into the Legend of Korra comics library delivers bite-sized stories that further explore a great mix of characters from the animated series in a mostly light-hearted manner. Overall, Patterns of Time is a very fun addition to the Legend of Korra universe – especially for fans already familiar with the entire series. The stories feel very rooted in the energy I associate with Legend of Korra, which tends to be fun adventures and humor mixed with moments that reflect character growth or introspection.

Very disappointed as it didn't really add anything to the lore, although the Asami back story was very well written. DiMartino is a co-creator of the award winning animated Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel, The Legend of Korra. Jinora, Asami, and Korra are having a bit of a run-in with some puffball spirits, and the art and color palette runs very soft and warm. The books' stories are the first comics in the franchise to include references to the Chronicles of the Avatar novels, such as mentioning the in-universe book Poems of Laghima (known from The Rise of Kyoshi) and Avatar Szeto (whose name and life story were given in The Shadow of Kyoshi). Three stories ( Friends for Life, Lost Pets, and Clearing the Air) were previously released during past years FCBD, while the remaining five are brand new.All of these showcase very different characters: How Korra met Naga, how Meelo learned to help others.

There's 'Friends for Life', with Korra as a little kid in the snowy Southern Water Tribe, where she first meets Naga the polar bear dog; then 'Skyscrapers', another adorable tale, and a touching moment, about kid Asami and her mother; then 'Wisdom'; 'Lost Pets', a good Meelo (and Korra) yarn; 'A Change in the Wind', about Korrasami, and Jinora's development (such beautiful art in this one! Naturally then, having (finally) finished LoK, I needed something (apart from writing/reading LoK fanfiction) to scratch my Korra itch. It took a year to release this book, and unfortunately it's the first in the series to make me disappointed. The Legend of Korra: Patterns in Time is a delightful anthology that pulls together several short comics, both previously released and brand new – including a 2016 Free Comic Book Day comic. Lost Pets" - When Meelo shirks his duties at the refugee camp, Korra recruits him for tracking down a pack of lost pets.The art was generally really, really good and while there wasn't much Korrasami in it, what was there was cute.
