About this deal

And yet there they were. You could say—again, from an American perspective—that it started with two things. There was Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, a 1987 double album that scatters in a lot of different directions. This is something the band always did well: listening to their “many moods” pop records is like exploring a new city, where every storefront and side street offers something unique. The same went for Standing on a Beach / Staring at the Sea, a collection of singles stretching from 1978 to 1985, that was critical to introducing this band to North Americans. In a 30 March 2019 interview with Rolling Stone, Smith commented on the band's next album, saying, "For the first time in 20 years, we went into a studio – we actually went into the studio where they [ Queen] did ' Bohemian Rhapsody'. The songs are like 10 minutes, 12 minutes long. We recorded 19 songs. So I have no idea what to do now... We'll finish it before we start in the summer, and it'll be mixed through the summer. And then so release date, I don't know, October? Halloween! Come on!" [130] In an interview published on 5 July in NME, he noted that the band would be re-recording three or four 4 songs in August 2019 but that, "I feel intent on it being a 2019 release and would be extremely bitter if it isn't." [131] However, the year passed with no new studio release, as did the following three years.Disintegration, for me, is the emotional and instrumental peak of music. Not a single second is wasted, everything is important and everything adds up to make something extraordinary. And that's just the music, the physical LP. Biography In January 1976, guitarist Robert Smith and bassist Michael Dempsey formed Malice with guitarist Mark Ceccagno while at school together. They were joined by a drummer known as Graham and his brother on vocals. By April of that year the line-up had changed to feature Smith and Dempsey alongside drummer Lol Tolhurst, guitarist Porl Thompson and vocalist Martin Creasy. When Creasy left the group in January 1977 the remaining members changed the group name to Easy Cure, and after two vocalists, Gary X and Peter O'Toole, passed through the group, the group setted as a quartet in September 1977 with Smith stepping up to the vocalist role alongside his role as guitarist. Following Thompson's departure in April 1978 the group became The Cure.

We didn’t really like it that much and it went on to be the most successful single in the band’s history.” The title reflects how I felt last year. This idea of a permanent struggle to remain coherent. We tend to give up, dispersing ourselves, disintegrating.Robert Smith and Porl Thompson’s flange and delay-drenched guitar hooks take centre stage on this evocative, brooding account of emotional desolation. Prayers For Rain lies at the very core of The Cure: Disintegration , its overt melodrama cementing the album’s monumental sense of remorse. Roger O’Donnell’s strings add poignancy while Boris Williams’ massive drum sound enhances the overall sense of foreboding.
