About this deal

And here they are added to the hood. While not fully functional or perfect, I think they are a definite improvement over the generic lumps molded into the die-cast. When the wash had dried, I then drybrushed all over using a mix of Vallejo Sand Yellow (70.916) and Iraqui Sand (70.819) in a 1:1 ratio:

Being R/H, the right-hand eye was not to bad to do (unless, and this happened a lot, I'd get the shakes as my hand got closer to the figure ). Can I ask if i may, is modelling big in India?, should i rather say , is it a common hobby? Are there established model shops? NoelSmith: The reason for covering the headlights is to simulate a cloth / canvas headlight cover which many of the SAS vehicles used. I do not need or desire any lenses on this one but your source information is nice to have for future builds. In hindsight I think I should've left them out to stipple paint and dry-brush first to simulate the canvas or cloth texture. I guess i will have to do that with them attached, or perhaps I might have another idea (?)Hi BigWall, thanks for the motivating words. Not so sure about the "brilliant" part, but thanks just the same. Weren't the Jeeps aluminium-bodied as well? Even euro ones shouldn't have been rusty.Steel I think. The aircraft industry would have got first dibs on the aluminium. Each time you use a technique its a lesson and a learning curve. I probably have read to much rather than getting on with the "stuff". After a while your head overloads with techniques and means and ways, and to be honest the best thing is to have a play. Also as I found out the engineering is really not up to modern standards. As a first kit it might be a bit of a challenge.

I find the little "to-do" lists incredibly helpful, especially if I know I'm going to be away from the bench for a while. Of course it helps if you remember to write down everything you've spotted. Unfortunately, I forgot to add "Paint the rear lights and reflectors BEFORE attaching the spare wheels". So having fitted them, I had to take them off, do the painting, and reattach them. The 1st layer was done using a 50:50 mix of the top coat - Vallejo Sand Yellow (70.916) and white (70.951). For the 2nd layer, meant to represent the bare metal, I used German Panzer Grey (74.643). In hindsight, I should have mixed some steel with this, for a slightly more metallic finish. It looks better in the photos than in real life. Ciao I'm also thinking how to proceed with the Chevrolet...in meantime I tested for the 1st time the snow with a Schimmwagen in Russia...take a look in the post if you want The Tamiya SAS Jeep is a dog by current standards. Nothing in it worth using. The earlier Tamiya Jeep (with the trailer) and the Heller Jeep are dogs too. Now to do the same stuff for the M1919 30 cal. MG. I may try to make the barrel again or buy a brass one. I promise that sooner than later the chassis is coming.
