About this deal

I get a smooth and creamy blend during the final stages, that is peppered with some rosemary herbal spice. Leather, tonka bean, and almond with a fresh base of cedar and cool vetiver. When L’Homme Ideal is performing well, it is a fantastic smelling cologne. To this well-known Neroli almond, which we already found in L'Homme Idéal Cologne, joins here namely a citrus mint, which gives the overall picture a tangy, almost limonade-like, slightly sweet touch, without being cheesy and too synthetic. The DNA of the Ideal series, especially the Colognes, lives on here so noticeably.

I mostly love fragrances that have a stable, rich, high-dose base. But it is not always easy as a perfumer to create an intense base without losing the top and heart notes or neglecting the desired effect thanks to a present base. Of course, it always depends on whether and which part of the fragrance pyramid the perfumers (have to) set as a focus. I put me at this point something out of the window and claim that this fragrance is a hybrid of L'Homme Idéal Cologne and Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum, although the influence of the latter appears significantly lower, but in my opinion quite present. Without a doubt, the fragrance starts with a strong aquatic note. However, I never have this typical aftershave feeling, because the cool, aquatic note is accompanied by a subtle spice and sweetness. The scent radiates coolness and cleanliness, but at the same time conveys a certain warmth and a feeling of cosiness, as one knows it from a round around the campfire or fireplace. Overall, I think L’Homme Ideal is great. It is one of my favorites from the batch of around 40 or so samples that I recently got. The longevity could be better but aside from that, it smells fantastic, and is very well put together.I've made it easy for myself at the time, and it as scratchy refreshed L'Homme Idéal Eau de Toilette dismissed, which, however, does not do it justice. Now that I'm almost through the 10ml bottling, I'd even say that it serves a niche for which I see few alternatives per se. L'Homme Idéal Cool reminds me of classic US barbershop-inspired aftershaves, such as Green After Shave , with its minty cool freshness and spicy sweetness only lightly hinted at by anise, and yes - Listerine. The signature almond of the Homme Idéale line fits perfectly into the concept and puts its unmistakable stamp on the fragrance. The fact that the green Power Ranger is fighting with Batman ( Sauvage Eau de Toilette ) in the Ambroxan superhero league doesn't bother me personally, because that's exactly what adapts it to the zeitgeist, but at the same time leaves it with a distinctly masculine gruffness, which I expect from a fresh, somewhat more mature men's water. Ambroxan is not overdosed here anyway, and it must not always be leather or woods. A little later the synthetic goes down a bit, especially when the tonka bean-like sweetness reappears and you can even smell some neroli again. So it remains mostly in the base until the end, so that I find the fragrance quite well done.

For spring and summer I bought a bottling and tested it several times during the last days. Especially in sunshine and on my skin I got to know a new side of cologne which inspired me. The star is the grapefruit in the top note. It's not the type that reminds me of the sour and bitter juice of various mediocre breakfast buffets, but a sweeter, more ripe fruit that immediately brightens my mind and makes me think about summer. This is probably due to the sweetness of the L'homme-Idéal DNA - here it works wonderfully and is rounded off by a fleetingly perceptible bergamot. The problem is that the base of the Cool is rather weak and transparent. No part of the base note gives the mint / almond weight. I wonder why musk was not used here either, to emphasize the almond and mint and keep it alive longer. It's almost like when an author hasn't thought up a good/logical ending. For me, the Cologne of the L'Homme Idéal series was, along with the EdT, the stepchild of the series for a long time. While the EdP in winter spreads opulence in a positive sense and the sports version is wrongly underestimated in my opinion and is quite unique with its combination of almonds and aquatics, the Cologne always made the impression of the nice boy from next door during various tests on test strips, about whom you can actually say nothing bad, but who comes across quite arbitrarily. I think this is a good Wasser creation, it exemplifies his Swiss precision. It doesn't have the bombast or excitement of something from Jean Paul Guerlain and I've had a hard time accepting that. It's a bit like your favourite band putting out a very different sounding record and changing their style over time. Guerlain today simply isn't Guerlain of old. Fresh and has an almost frozen profile to it, that’s perfect for the warmer weather. Lighter sillage, but it could last for around 8 hours. If you can find a bottle, for a reasonable price, L’Homme Ideal Cologne is worthwhile. Ideal Cologne Review

Of course, there's a nice sweetness here, too, which, as with most Idéal fragrances, is reminiscent of tonka bean, but I'd say that, especially at the beginning, you hardly notice the DNA of Idéal fragrances here. But never mind, because it smells really nice at the beginning, even if, as with the Intense fragrance recently, there should be a clearly noticeable mainstream aura, which means that the fragrance doesn't stand out much from other mainstream scents. However, this synthetic is not really disturbing, even if the heart note should become a little stronger from time to time. Also in the heart note, the citric scents become a bit weaker, otherwise it remains as usual. I therefore think that this L'Homme Idéal is also worth a test, even if this is perhaps not really a must. Like most sports versions, this scent is more suitable for wearing on hot days than actually doing sports with the scent and then sweating and hoping that under all the sweat you will hopefully smell the scent more than the sweat... igitt :DD The, unfortunately discontinued, Cologne version had convinced me more and more with the time. Not because it was a complex masterpiece or one of the most creative fragrances. But rather because of its encouraging, cheerful, lively and summery way. This was due to the grapefruit and almond notes. While these notes complemented each other and added more weight, the light musk note was also added (probably mainly as a fixative) to add more weight, inclusion and longevity overall. As a result, the grapefruit aromas could be perceived until the end. Extreme is actually pretty similar to the others, with the standard nutty almond note, but paired with fruity notes such as plum. Quite tart to me, rather than sweet, early on. Add to that, Ideal Extreme has spicy notes and a tobacco finish. Still dry fruity sweet, but not overly sugary or unbearable.
