About this deal

The narrator of the story, Shannon McFarland, is a disfigured former model who goes by multiple pseudonyms, notably Daisy St. Patience and Bubba Joan—identities given to her by Brandy Alexander. The novel opens in medias res on the wedding day of Evie Cottrell, whose house is burning to the ground. Brandy, who has been shot by Evie, asks the narrator to tell her life story. Her memories of her life and her relationship with Brandy are told in a non-linear sequence.

It very seriously makes me sad that there are people that haven't read Invisible Monsters. Invisible Monsters is the most amazing work of art I have ever experienced and reading it for the 3rd time was the best decision I have made this summer. Of course, this is the remix version, so it was different than the original Invisible Monsters but mainly just in the formatting and some added chapters. Brandy Alexander, Queen Supreme, aka Princess Princess—A transgender woman whom the narrator meets in the hospital shortly after her own mysterious gunshot injury. Brandy encourages Narrator to hide her disfigurement and attempt to live a new lifestyle. Invisible Monsters can be a challenging read as the novel unfolds in a stream-of-consciousness format. Recollections of mostly past incidents are told from the vantage point of a mutilated woman that assumes several identities, such as Shannon McFarland, Daisy St. Patience, and Bubba-Joan, throughout the story. These personas are fabricated and given to her by another character, Brandy Alexander, who accompanies her throughout most of the novel.Gestalt Theory can be summed up by saying, "The whole is more than the sum of its parts." Field Theory attempts to define this “whole” and apply these principles to a person or situation. It suggests patterns should be studied between the individual and the field in which they exist. Field

Don't get me wrong still a very weird book but highly entertaining. I recommend that you read it carefully and try to remember details even if you don't understand it at the time. The novel presents a darkly humorous yet powerful commentary on the fragility of human relationships.I did like that this edition was hardcover and even if the chapter jumping wasn't my favorite thing to do, I like his ideas and I like the fact that he'll do something different. Shannon McFarland, The Narrator and former fashion model, now disfigured by a mysterious gunshot injury. She goes by many various names throughout the book, most notably Daisy St. Patience and Bubba-Joan. Let’s break the equation down further. Lewin believed that the person and their environment ultimately determined the individual’s behavior, or B= f(LS) = F(P,E). I discussed the environment earlier in the video, but what exactly is the “person?” I did end up starting with Remix. I sort of came to figure... why not? There's only one first time, and the more I thought about it, the more I thought that the out-of-sequence stuff would mean a lot less if you'd already gone through the story. So I'm glad I made that choice.

Unreliable Narrator: The narrator confesses she just hates everyone and that in fact nobody behaves worse than she does.

NEW MATERIAL

In the Remix version, it is revealed that Shannon, now going by Daisy St. Patience full-time, has established a cemetery after her parents have died, in which people can buy plots for relatives they disliked with spiteful sayings carved into the tombstones. She also creates a group for disfigured women called " Elephant Women". In the end, she marries an unidentified man. Deadpan Snarker: Most of the narrator's scribbles on her notepad are sly jokes or sardonic snark, but no one understands it most of the time. Lewin’s look at behavior varied from that of the behaviorists. He believed behavior was a function of a person’s “life-space,” demonstrated by the equation B = f (LS). The life space accounts for all factors that influence a person’s decisions, including their perceptions of their experiences. These perceptions and interpretations will vary from person to person, as will the experiences they perceive and interpret. B = f (P, E) Anyways, I think that about covers it. Jump to the comments section and let us know what you think. Is Remix a better book? Did you like the additional materials? Was my use of the 'Jump To' device superfluous and unoriginal? Sound off like you've got a jawbone.
