About this deal
A typical round is made up of four phases; Market, Distill, Sell and Age phase and players will gain "Spirit" points over the course of seven rounds. Once you are happy with your custom spirit, you can add it to a custom flight or print it out to be used as a spirit label in the game! Distill Phase – Players will attempt to distill a liquid using the ingredients they have collected and added to the washback, add a barrel and claim a spirit label.
One friend of mine who backed the crowdfunding campaign reported that his first five-player game (all new players for their learning game) took FOUR HOURS. If you want more complexity in the game than evaluating the expense of coins while creating different spirits, then you may be left wanting more during the distilling process and overall gameplay experience. Don’t get me wrong, I am far past the ‘iron liver Dan’ days of my youth and waking up in car show room entry ways holding on to half eaten cheesecake slices. Shuffle all the cards then take the top and the bottom card from the cards and put them back in your pantry.Distilled is Dave Beck’s first major design, and it’s an above-average game cemented by excellent theme, digestible rules, and solid production. The choices, the tension, the asymmetry, the solo mode, the multiplayer mode, it all comes together a wonderful package. After seven rounds you'll score end game points for your private bonus cards, money, certain upgrade cards and your bottle collection.
But even those who don’t for religious or personal reasons can appreciate the craft that goes into the production of the drinks.
This game has it all and I thought I was distilling actual spirits or it could be the whisky talking. There’s so many thematic touches throughout the game that prove that this has been a labour of love from the designer. Market Phase – Players will acquire new ingredients, items, upgrade and staff to add into their distillery. Alcohol cards are added for each sugar, all cards are shuffled, the top and bottom cards are removed and placed in your supply for future rounds.
