About this deal

Like many footwear companies these days, Adidas is making a shift toward more sustainable production. The brand has pledged to replace virgin polyester with recycled polyester “wherever possible” by 2024—though that’s a fairly vague goal—and to make sure nine out of 10 of their articles contain a sustainable material by 2025. The brand is also experimenting with circular product design in a small line available only to members of their adiclub. What does this all mean for the Terrex AX4 here? Mainly that the upper features at least 50% recycled content. It’s not on par with competitors like Merrell’s Moab 3—which features 100% recycled laces, webbing, and mesh lining—but it’s a start, and we appreciate that. The unique mesh and synthetic materials of the TERREX shoe range contribute to a comfortable foot environment. Perspiration is routed away, to ensure a dry and comfortable shoe even after hours of jogging. Both adiPRENE® and TORSION® provide extra heel or midfoot stability, for traction on all types of surfaces. Even after many hours of exertion, the EVA midsole softly cushions every step. Final verdict

Many commented on the size, recommending fellow buyers consider a half or full-size up. One user commented, “these shoes would be suitable for climbing a mountain,” and praised their “rugged toughness”, while another loved the sturdy base. Thanks to a tried and reliable Gore-Tex textile lining, these hiking shoes are waterproof. Although they only have a flood height of 3 inches, they keep water out of your shoes when crossing shallow creeks and muddy pathways. 3. Traction The Terrex AX range of entry-level hiking boots by adidas is a must-have preferred choice of shoe for any member of the family. The weather can be unpredictable but your shoe won't be. In addition, the outsole made of Continental rubber ensures a secure grip even in wet conditions. So you can trust that the AX4 will get you to your destination safely. A perfect fit for any trailOn a positive note, the shoe's toebox offers plenty of toe space as long as you have the right size length-wise. Chevron lugs. Its outsole now comes with chevron lugs. These revamped protrusions grant extra bite on soft-soiled terrain (think gravel and scree, particularly on ascents).

Re-engineered heel brake. The Terrex AX4's heel brake has been redesigned and provides virtually the same level of skid resistance on loose terrain but with better mud-shedding capabilities.

Table of Contents

At 379 g or 13.4 oz per shoe, the Adidas Terrex AX4 is among the lightest trail shoes in circulation (FYI: in hiking, low-top shoes weighing 450g (15.9 oz) or less are considered light). You need only glance at particular models of hiking shoes to know it’s going to be a painful few months breaking them in, but that’s not the case with the Adidas Terrex AX4 GORE-TEX hiking shoes; they’re comfortable from the get-go. The shoe's rubber compound is also slightly softer than average, which subtracts from the shoe's abrasion resistance as well. Adidas indeed uses a very thin insole for the Terrex AX4. It is only 2.6 mm in the heel as opposed to the average of 5.3 mm. We discovered that the fourth iteration in the Terrex AX series comes with improvements over to its predecessor, the Terrex AX3.
