About this deal

If this seems weird to you, that’s normal. Hart admits that this concept is pretty easy to misunderstand. He’s not saying that you should be miserable and unhappy with the way things are in your life. He just means that you should be able to stop and say, “Things are pretty great, but I know I can do better.” People spew negativity for a reaction. That’s the only reason behind it. They’re looking for a reaction. If you give that, then you feed into it. Legends and champions are willing to put up with more discomfort than other people. They’re willing to make big sacrifices to get what they want.

While many details of Logelin’s story have been changed for the Fatherhood movie, the message of love, loss, and perseverance remains the same. And for the real Logelin, who was on set and involved in the film’s production, that’s all that matters. Success can be a drug. It can take hold of you and turn you into a junkie, lead you to do things you don’t want to, and turn you into a person you don’t want to be. When it comes to getting wealth or the spotlight, a lot of people want it. But very few can handle it and maintain their sense of self and sanity. He wants to share some lessons he’s learned along the way—lessons that helped him get to where he is now. He wants to talk to you about “what-is-ness,” “cowboying up,” and “teddy bearing.”

How did I contribute to this?” “How might my actions have created this situation?” “Next time, how can I better communicate my needs or boundaries so that this doesn’t happen again?” When you stop and ask yourself these questions, fights and misunderstandings become opportunities for improvement. This book is so much better than it has any business being. The only reason I read it is my kid likes Jumanji so he wanted to read this book together. I figured it would be some easy cash grab using Kevin Hart’s name to appeal to kids. I figured the best case scenario was that the book would be shallow and fun and harmless. I was surprised to find that it’s an actual book. I am not sure how much Kevin Hart had to do with the final product ( established YA author Geoff Rodkey is credited in the book) but this book is really well done. He added, “I wanted the film to really convey the pain I went through and the difficult moments I experienced just after my wife died. It’s really hard to convey something like that and I haven’t seen it too many times in film. Kevin did an incredible job with it. He’s known as a comedian but his serious side really comes out here.” Thank you, Kevin for giving me this idea to use on my sister! She is notoriously one of THOSE people lol, and it personally drives me insane!)However all of his swearing and using the Lord's name in vain over and over was not needed at all. Way too much and really distracting. It totally turned me off from everything he was saying. Both Hart and the real Logelin recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, where Logelin said his daughter Maddy is now 13 years old and reading two to three books a week. “She a bit of a nerd,” Logelin said lovingly. Logelin added that screenwriter Dana Stevens met with him several times while writing the script, and both he and his daughter Maddy were present on the set during production. “She fictionalized things and changed up some of the dynamics in the movie, but she did a great job of capturing the spirit,” Logelin said. He added that one of the biggest changes was the personality of his wife’s mother, played by Alfre Woodard in the film. “Maddy’s grandma is the sweetest, most wonderful person, and Alfre Woodard did an amazing job playing her. The film plays up some of the tensions that you would expect to have between a mother-in-law and a son-in-law that never really existed in our relationship. It’s great for the movie, but it’s not something that happened in real life.” Hart admits that he didn’t always think this way. During arguments in the past, he would automatically default to feeling like the victim. Now, he stops and takes the time to ask himself a few important questions. Here are some of the questions I ask myself: What am I building? What is the endgame? And when I get to the endgame, is it really the end? When I die, what will other people talk about? What will the conversation be like? What is the legacy I’m leaving for my children?
