About this deal

In the Nintendo DS, PSP, Android and iOS versions, several changes were made from the versions of the other formats. The best thing you can say, however, is that you just can’t beat the Lego series when it comes to consistency. A mobile version of the game was released for iOS on 19 November 2010 and was ported to Android on 28 September 2016. This actually worked in its favour, as a step back from the PS3/PS2 version of Half-Blood Prince was a step in the right direction. The game was nominated for two awards in the 7th British Academy Games Awards, in the "family" and "handheld" sections.

A remastered version of the game was released for the PlayStation 4 on 18 October 2016 in North America and in Europe on 21 October as part of the Lego Harry Potter Collection in which the game was bundled with its sequel, Lego Harry Potter: Years 5–7.It’s one of the first pieces of music that comes to my head when I think Harry Potter, right next to John Williams’ iconic ‘Hedwig’s Theme’. Generally, the video game adaptations of the Harry Potter series were designed to be released to coincide with the release schedule of the film series.

Neat ideas like using potions for grenades or turning cinematic setpieces into on-rails lightgun sections never translate into fun gameplay, and sadly they strip out all the non-shooting gameplay in the sequel, so it never gets any better.

For the sequel, LEGO changed developers from Superscape to Qube Software and things went a little smoother. But because Part 1 is mostly set in quiet camping environments, developer EA Bright Light had to get… creative. Azkaban even features various seasons, allowing players to spend a perfect Christmas at Hogwarts but also make a terrifying, icy trip to the Shrieking Shack. Book of Spells is an Augmented Reality game based on an in-universe book authored by Miranda Goshawk, famous author of many Hogwarts textbooks.
