yeah i dont know, my thoughts around this book really just boil down to the fact that im really, really glad i could read it. some of it also was sad and interesting when looking at june and jennifer themselves, how parts of the book might mirror their experiences. i desperately want to read their unpublished works, they had some really great ideas. June and Jennifer Gibbons were twins who made a pact at three years old to only communicate with each other. The pair upheld their agreement until Jennifer Gibbons died, freeing June to live among society. It was only through death that either could be liberated from the other. This passage from June encapsulates how irreversibly intertwined June and Jennifer were: Leah Mondesir Simmons and Eva-Arianna Baxter will portray the twins as young girls in The Silent Twins (Picture: PA)

Their case became so prolific that the Manic Street Preachers’ 1995 song Tsunami was inspired by the sisters. To her surprise, she forged a friendship with them by telling them their parents had let her read their notebooks. They broke their silence to ask if she liked their writings and told her they dreamed of becoming writers. But the things they had written, she found, included furious screeds about their own relationship. Wallace shared one excerpt from Jennifer with NPR: Wallace, one of the only people June and Jennifer would talk to, ended up reporting extensively on the behavior that allegedly spooked the Broadmoor staff. The twins would alternate which one of them would eat food while the other one went hungry. For a time they were separated, and staff would discover that both girls, though kept in cells far apart from one another, were motionless, frozen in the exact same position. Historia milczących bliźniaczek była mi znana tylko w takim zakresie, że wiedziałam, że nie mówiły, bo tak same zdecydowały.She still lives in the area near her parents but has tried to keep out of the spotlight aside from some previous interviews. SMITH: And finally, the doctors at Broadmoor announced they were transferring the twin to Caswell Clinic. And maybe, after about a year in Caswell, the twins could be released and rejoin the outside world. Marjorie decided to make one last visit to the twins in Broadmoor before their transfer. When identical twins, June and Jennifer Gibbons were three they began to reject communication with anyone but each other, and so began a childhood bound together in a strange and secret world. As they grew up, love and hate united to push them to the extreme margins of society and, following a five week spree of vandalism and arson, the silent twins were sentenced to a gruelling twelve-year detention in Broadmoor. June was older than her sister by ten minutes, yet most people believed that Jennifer was the manipulative sister. The twins, who immigrated to England with their parents and three siblings in the early 1960s, grew closer because of the abuse they endured.

Girls just want to have fun". They light-heartedly went on a fun crime spree of sex, drugs, arson, burglary, theft around age 18 and one wonders about the parents. How could they not know? The parents could not believe the twins committed the crimes, denied this, but how could they not know? The evidence clearly proved the crimes. Aubrey, the father, suggested racial discrimination. I'll tell you what fazes me: the fact that this book is labelled "outsider" literature and hasn't been re-published, while the likes of "Twilight" and "50 Shades" are actually sold as books.

Interesting biography of identical twins, June and Jennifer Gibbons. They spoke only to each other, using a secret language. All their movements were synchronized. Things became stranger, and stranger, as they matured. Eventually, they ended up in a psychiatric facility in Berkshire, England, called Broadmoor Hospital.

Identical twins June and Jennifer were from Barbados and moved to the UK during the Windrush generation with their parents Gloria and Aubrey Gibbons.SMITH: The cause of Jennifer's death still remains a mystery. The autopsy revealed major swelling around her heart. The coroner never found any poison in her body. Some doctors thought the high dose of medication she took at Broadmoor might have weakened her immune system ,but the twins had received the same treatment during their time in Broadmoor. And June was in good health when Jennifer died. a b c d e f g h Als, Hilton (27 November 2000). "The Identical Twin Sisters Who Retreated Into Their Own World". The New Yorker. It wasn’t until 1976 when a doctor arrived at their school to give students their TB (tuberculosis) jabs when the medic noticed their peculiar behaviour. June Gibbons (born 11 April 1963 [2]) and Jennifer Gibbons (11 April 1963 – 9 March 1993) were identical twins who grew up in Wales. They became known as "The Silent Twins", since they only communicated with each other. They wrote works of fiction. Both women were admitted to Broadmoor Hospital, where they were held for 11 years.
