About this deal

It’s not that Clarke doesn’t try: she does attempt to create false suspense by ending the chapter with the reader thinking a character has died. King uses the phrase keeping it on the down-low in a way that suggests he probably doesn’t understand how this phrase is currently used—and has been used for quite a while. another book with girls in the title where the girls are off to an exotic location where everyone has a secret, someone dies and everything is resolved. This is a character-driven novel, where each chapter is devoted to learning more about each one of the six. I loved the sun and the food, and while I didn’t drink nearly as much as these women did, I still had a great time.

I am a sucker for stories with a closed setting and a bunch of secrets, just trying to find the light of day, and One of the Girls did not disappoint. Whenever she travels, she often keeps a journal and always thought it would be tempting and intriguing to read another person’s travel journal. The highlight of the novel isn't the story and/or the characters but the Greek island the six women travel to for a friend's bachelorette trip.

I’m familiar with hen-do’s and stag-do’s, but I’ve never heard women on a hen do so frequently referred to as “hens”. Going into this book, I thought it would be similar to Ruth Ware's In a Dark, Dark Wood, but this book is not really that suspenseful. Brooks is a pro at building suspense even if it plays out in some rather spectacularly yucky episodes, one involving a short spear that takes its name from “the sucking sound of pulling it out of the dead man’s heart and lungs.

That’s pretty much all that happens in this book, aside from arguments between a few characters now and then, and, of course, the fact that someone winds up dead.Last Seen” by Lucy Clarke is a remarkable read that introduces two close friends who have always had a close friendship ever since they were children. The story is set on a beautiful Greek Island, where six women were on a hen weekend travelling from London to the Greek island of Aegos for four nights, a weekend bachelorette party. Six women (Bella, Fen, Robyn, Eleanor, Ana, Lexi) have traveled to a sun-soaked Greek island for Lexi's hen weekend.
