About this deal

When looking for the best cages for Syrian hamsters, there are a few key points to keep in mind. First, size matters. A cage should be at least 450 square inches in floor space, with plenty of room for your hamster to move around and play. Second, the cage should have good ventilation and be made of sturdy materials. Third, it should be easy to clean and maintain. Fourth, the cage should have plenty of enrichment opportunities, such as tunnels, hideouts, and toys. Finally, the cage should be escape-proof and secure, to keep your hamster safe and prevent any accidents.

The cage top is perfectly attuned to the cage to ensure an ideal living environment inside. The roof cover is easy to open up or close, making it convenient to reach out to the water bottle, feed your hamster, or change the bedding materials. The cage also allows fresh air in, providing a well-ventilated living space for your furry friend. If you want a home for your happy hamster that will keep them entertained, provide plenty of exercise, has room for expansion and won't break the bank then this is the best hamster cage for you. The wire top mesh is 1/4-inch-wide, providing ample ventilation and ensuring the pet's safety. The exercise wheel is 5.5 inches in diameter, allowing for plenty of exercise and playtime. The deep base measures 22.25 inches in length, 18.05 inches in width, and 11.5 inches in height, providing a total of approximately 401 square inches of base space. The cage measures 80cm x 50 cm x 50cm and has a 9.5mm bar spacing, providing ample space for your hamster to move around and play. The large lower area of the cage is perfect for your hamster to frolic and tunnel, giving it plenty of room to explore and exercise. The cage is also easy to move thanks to its two large handles, making it easy to relocate to any part of your home. The cage includes an exercise wheel, house, bowl and some fun scalable wooden ramps and shelves so your hamster will have multiple levels to explore. The ramps and shelves are moveable too, so you can introduce a little variety into their habitat every time you clean it. Note this doesn't come with a water bottle included, so you will need to source that separately. So you've seen what goes into the decision-making process but what do the experts suggest? Well, as we explained above, size is everything. “Your chosen hamster cage should be large,” says veterinarian Dr Joanna Woodnutt MRCVS.“The best ones are over a meter in length and over half a meter in width.” The reinforced iron wire construction of the rat cages ensures stability and prevents deformation and bite resistance. It is perfect for fixing accessories such as bottles and wheels. The cage top is perfectly attuned to the cage to ensure an ideal living environment inside. The roof cover is easy to open up or close, making it convenient to reach out to the water bottle, feed your hamster, or change the bedding materials. The cage allows fresh air to flow in, ensuring your pet stays healthy and happy. Bigger is better when it comes to the best hamster cages. The more room your furry pet has to run around in, the happier and healthier they will be. The Savic Hamster Heaven Metro Cage is big by hamster cage standards. It measures 31.5 x 20 x 20 inches, that's nearly three feet in length and nearly two foot wide and high. This makes it perfect for all breeds of hamster and ideal for more than one (if your breed is happy with a companion). The Savic Hamster Heaven Metro Cage is a spacious and well-equipped home for your pet hamster. This cage is designed to provide everything your hamster needs to be comfortable, healthy, and happy. It comes with a range of accessories, including tunnels, exercise wheel, two houses, a penthouse, and a water bottle, making it a great value for its price. If you want to go green when purchasing a hamster cage then this is definitely your best choice. Hamster cages are usually made from plastic and metal, both man-made materials. Neither of these are as environmentally-friendly as the wooden Ferplast HAMSTERVILLE Hamster Habitat Cage. It is made from all natural, sustainable, liquid resistant wood and is accompanied by a strong robust wire net cage. Note that the wood comes from forests that are managed in a responsible way.

The Duna Space Gerbil & Hamster Cage includes all necessary accessories and play tunnels, including a food dish, water bottle, hideaway, 5.5-inch exercise wheel, and a connecting port for play tubes to connect to other habitats. This modular design allows pet owners to easily customize their pet's living space to fit their individual needs. Thought this looked like a nice cage for my hamster. I like the clear base: it's pretty deep so I can put a lot of bedding in, and it's very spacious. The hamster cage consists of two parts. Effectively an upstairs and downstairs. The base – the downstairs – measures 23.6 x 14.4 in height and width, and an impressive 4.75-inches in height. This provides a nice deep base to fill with plenty of bedding and gives your furry friend plenty of burrowing room. The design of the base also means that the bedding will stop spreading to the top floor. This Large Hamster Cage and Habitat is an ideal living space for small animals like Syrian hamsters, robo hamsters, dwarf hamsters, small gerbils, and small Chinese hamsters. Measuring 23" L x 14" W x 17" H, this 2-level cage provides ample exercise space for your furry friend. Its design offers optimal viewing and excellent ventilation, ensuring your pet's comfort and health. If you are a new hamster owner or thinking about getting one, one of the most important things to consider is the type of cage your furry friend will live in. Syrian hamsters have specific needs when it comes to their living space, and choosing the right cage can make a big difference in their overall health and happiness. Some users have mentioned that as the wooden shelves and ramps come untreated, it may be worth using a little animal-friendly varnish to ensure if they mess on them they won't start to discolour or smell. You also may find the ramps a little long for all configurations, but they can easily be cut down with a saw.

We love the clear bottom. Our new friend likes to burrow in the bottom so we can still sort of see him when he's down there. The BUCATSTATE Hamster Cages with Free Accessories is a versatile and easy-to-maintain habitat for small animals. Measuring 24.4"L * 13.8"W * 16.9"H, the cage provides ample living space for rats, gerbils, guinea pigs, mice, Syrian dwarf hamsters, birds, and other small animals. The deep base measures 6.3", which provides approximately 337 square inches of living space. DIY is not always the cheapest option. But it can make a larger cage. The cheapest option is probably a second hand barred cage or second hand detolf. Barred cages have their advantages, if large enough - access, ventilation and good interaction with the hamster without "walls". As well as thinking high, think low! As you'll know, hamsters love to burrow. It's a way to protect themselves and stay safe and they will generally burrow when they're about to sleep. By ensuring the cage has a deep base upon which you can place plenty of bedding, you will be providing an opportunity for the hamster to dig. The deeper the base, the better. The metal top of the cage was a bit difficult to assemble, as it comes in 3 separate parts, that if slightly bent, as mine were, don't fit together easily. Unlike many metal cages that snap together with small hooks, this one requires you to bend small tabs to attach the pieces together. The white coating on the tabs flakes off immediately when bent, exposing the metal underneath (2nd photo). This might not be a problem immediately, but I'm concerned that over time this could be a starting point for rust. The square corners of the cage also don't want to fit perfectly into the rounded corners on the lip of the plastic bottom but can be forced to. Lastly, the bars themselves are quite flimsy feeling and bend easily; I had to brace all of the small wooden platforms against vertical bars because otherwise the horizontal bars twisted and let them droop without even any weight on them. And then there is the height! “Your cage will also need to be tall enough to take this much bedding and have some ‘above ground’ space. Using platforms in your hamster cage allows houses and wheels to be held up and prevents ‘caving in’ when they dig their tunnels,” she adds. Can hamsters stay in a cage all day?
