About this deal

It has been a while since I read it so I am a bit rusty on a lot of the things that happened in the book. he’d still missed him with an almost physical intensity, like a thousand ants were gnawing on his heart. Not even the translation was able to suppress the masterpiece the writing was, every world an arrow right on the mark. It is worth mentioning that I might change my opinion on the characters as time goes on but volume 1 is supposed to be able to pull you in and make you stay and read the whole novel, and vol 1 of 2ha didn't manage to do that for me, most of the characters did not stick with me and I didn't really like them.

But he left the worst for his Shizun, Chu Wanning, responsible for the death of the only man Mo Ran’s ever wanted, Shi Mei. After thinking about this disparity, I realized why others like this novel so much: 1) the MC is the gong, and 2) the author has amazing writing skills (reason I gave this novel two stars except for one). AGAIN things I wouldn't have that HUGE of an issue with if this wasn't promoted or presented as a romance novel. I mainly got around to starting this cause I didn’t want to be spoiled by beautiful art on TikTok and it has been simultaneously a wonderful and horrible idea.I cant read chinese so I read the translation and they really did a great job on translating this novel. Especially things like screwing RJ straight after rebirth (even if he doesn't know the truth yet), the flashbacks of sleeping with SQT after CWN death in 0. His shizun was really similar to a cat, while he himself was like a dumb puppy slobbering and wagging his tail. As he uncovers a series of mysteries related to his past life as the lines between past and present blur, Mo Ran begins to see himself and his Shizun in a different light. Istg the moment I started this book I just knew I made a mistake bcs turns out, this didn't hurt any less in the second read.

When I said it will break you, it will tear your soul apart and make you hold on to your dear life while you're sobbing and scratching your walls. Now with how similar the stories are, I was initially surprised with how different the reviews for these two novels were. By the end I was getting frustrated and cursing every new twist) As such, the thematic resonance tends to fall apart a little bit, and all in all the scope of the story may have been a little too ambitious.

Excluding the gross fetishization and romanticization, this wouldn't have been a HUGE issue if this WASN'T promoted as a ROMANCE NOVEL. Nothing is funnier than the ex-emperor of the cultivation world being trapped in a teenager's body, lacking power and strenght. whereas mo ran is little meow meow levels of insane horny (in abject denial about his domestic fantasies and as a result reaches feats of obsessive rage henceforth unknown to man, needs to be pet like a little ankle-biting dog, moonlights as a professional good boy despite being a closet chu wanning stalker. Since the relationship between the main characters is so strained and so toxic to begin with, the smut tends towards being a dichotomy between incredibly brutally violent and abusive, and being sweet and tender and sensual.

When I reached chapter 281 I encountered a message that said I need to wait one day before I can read any more free chapters. Mo Ran doesn‘t even try to justify his actions, he immediately admits to his selfish reasons, or he just doesn‘t care. Other than his solitary figure standing amidst the ruins, shrouded in brilliant scarlet like read lotus in first bloom, or a fallen haitang blossom, there was only the ground, covered in shattered white bones, and terrifying Tianwen, golden light still coursing along its length. During his past life, he had born a hate filled grudge against his Shizun, Chu WanNing, and had held him captive and forced him to become his concubine to exact his revenge against him. This is why I far prefer MXTX (as an example - as the part of the fanbase I know aren't aware of some of all the other amazing danmei out there) for at least the lovers are clean and loyal to each other. About the novel The Husky and His White Cat Shizun (二哈和他的白猫师尊) is a xianxia novel written by Meatbun Doesn't Eat Meat (肉包不吃肉) and published on JJWXC between 2017 and 2019.

Just realised I said I'll actually talk about the side characters in the official translation's review and I still only ranted about Moron and Wanning. most recently, i've been encountering protagonists and/or love interests that largely emulate some level of moral righteousness + flawless character power potential (which has its place and can be very lovely), so getting to meet the absolute disaster duo that is chu wanning and mo ran has been an immense pleasure.I was immediately surprised by how much darker and more explicit this premise and the content was when compared to what I have come to expect from other Danmei’s.
