About this deal

Did you know that rabbits have a “ third eyelid”? Yes, these so-called nictitating membranes are totally clear and serve to keep their eyes moist even when they appear to be fully open.

The temperature of the room plays a role in which position your rabbit chooses to sleep in. When it’s hot, rabbits are more likely to sprawl out on their side or flop over against a cool surface (such as a marble tile), to help keep their bodies from overheating. Rabbits sleep for 8-12 hours a day in a loaf, sprawled out, or flopped position. They sleep in short bursts (naps) between midday and late afternoon, and then again from late night to early morning since they are crepuscular. Rabbits prefer to sleep in a dark, safe space with lots of bedding. Because rabbits sleep at night and during the day, it doesn’t have to be dark. Rabbits can sleep just as comfortably in the light. For all these reasons, you should at least think extremely carefully before planning on sleeping in the same bed as your bunny. Holland, Jennifer S. “40 Winks?” National Geographic Vol. 220, No. 1. July 2011. Accessed: http://connection.ebscohost.com/c/articles/61358469/40-winks.As a conclusion, try to observe your rabbit's sleeping patterns and daily routine and follow that instead of trying to change it. That if you don't want a grumpy bunny in your home. In general, domestic rabbits will adapt to an extent to their owner's habits and routines, but you should always leave room for them to do so. It is estimated that a rabbit needs approximately 8.5 hours of sleep a day, which is pretty similar to how much sleep a person needs. In reality, all rabbits sleep. They sleep for two large time periods, as well as taking several naps throughout their waking hours. Rabbits prefer to get their sleep in short bursts rather than all at once. It’s easy to mistake a sleeping rabbit with one that’s relaxed but awake. To add to the confusion, rabbits often sleep with their eyes open. If you ever try to sneak up on a sleeping rabbit you’ll likely find that you don’t get anywhere near before getting noticed!

Because of their crepuscular nature and their tendency to take naps all day long, rabbits are already capable of sleeping with the light on, in darkness, or anywhere in between. Instead, keep them in a room that receives some natural light. Their instincts will keep them on a regular sleep schedule. Rooms with some sunlight are also good because you can open a window to give your rabbit access to UVB rays that will keep them from becoming Vitamin D deficient. Do rabbits sleep with their eyes open? The great thing about rabbits is that unlike some popular pets (e.g. hamsters) they always seem to be ready to go whenever you want to play. Rabbits are animals known to have intense dreams, as they are often seen trashing and fidgeting while sleeping. These rapid body movements are called sleepwalking, and are thought to be related to dreams.Rabbits are vivid dreamers, often being caught thrashing, twitching or moving their legs. Unfortunately, this means that they likely experience nightmares as well. And, even worse, there’s nothing we can really do as pet parents except make their sleeping space as calm and soothing as possible. Where Do Rabbits Like to Sleep? If you're a happy - that's a relative term - rabbit owner, you might have noticed that your bun is either super active when you're trying to get to sleep or he's waking up too early for breakfast and running around when you're in that sweet stage of early morning sleep. While you might try to teach him the way of the humans in terms of daily routine and sleep, he might not give a damn about it and follow his natural ways. The daily routine and sleeping patterns of rabbits differ a lot from ours.
