So freaking cool! My 4YO is just old enough to not tear up the pop-ups (at least, so far so good). The words are a bit dry and technical for his age, but he doesn't mind while he is lifting the flap to reveal the next feat of paper ingenuity. With so many layers and moving paper parts - water-colored on all sides - readers may begin to feel like paleontologists unearthing fossils. Dino fans won't be disappointed. As a mother of three boys, I've accepted that dinosaurs are an inevitable stage of their development, but I hate everything about them (the dinosaurs, not boys). They're so...not pretty. But clever paper crafts, I can get behind. I actually enjoy flipping through this with my son. From renowned pop-up masters Matthew Reinhart and Robert Sabuda comes an awe-inspiring tribute to the world’s most beloved extinct animals and their 180-million-year reign on our planet. Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water! The second astonishing Encyclopedia Prehistorica book from Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart is about to pop up everywhere.

Encyclopedia Prehistorica, The Definitive Pop-Up Dinosaurs: Encyclopedia Prehistorica, The Definitive Pop-Up

Two bestselling book creators bring prehistoric sea beasts to life in this spectacular pop-up masterpiece! This triumph of paper technology prompts amazement both at Sabuda and Reinhart's creativity and at the magnificence of the creatures they portray. Likely to pass this gem of my early childhood onto another kid in the family, I decided I would spend some time rereading it. While some facts have become a bit outdated — as the author puts it, "We all make mistakes, paleontologists included" — it holds up pretty well. Most of the changing science is just clarifications that have been made since, not outright falsehoods. This mini-encyclopedia presents a great introduction for many young folks to the lost world. While dinosaurs patrolled the lands, massive prehistoric sharks, giant scorpions and colossal squid cruised the ancient oceans - most with just one thing in mind: eat or be eaten. Full of captivating facts and more than thirty-five breathtaking pop-ups, this incredible companion volume to the bestselling Encyclopedia Prehistorica: Dinosaurs explores the prehistoric underwater world, where monsters ruled the waves for millions of years.
