CeCe Rogers - US Dance Club Songs". Billboard.com . Retrieved 25 January 2015. [ permanent dead link] a b c d e Colin Larkin, ed. (1998). The Virgin Encyclopedia of Dance Music (Firsted.). Virgin Books. pp.289/290. ISBN 0-7535-0252-6.

British band M People released a cover of " Someday" in April 1992 as the third single from their first album, Northern Soul (1991). The song peaked at number thirty eight on the UK Singles Chart and number ten on the UK Dance Singles Chart. Produced by Chicago's master, Marshall Jefferson, every element is unmistakable - from the dynamic bass and sweeping flutes that set the scene for that instantly recognisable piano riff, to the raw soulful beauty of Rogers' vocals. 'Someday' is a record that truly captures the euphoric, loving nature of the early house music scene - epitomising a timeless spirit and hope for future harmony within society. There are those tunes made to suceed, and those made to be remembered. When we think about this second option, "Someday", a fantastic House masterpiece with vocals of Ce Ce Rogers and production by Marshall Jefferson that was sampled several times such as on 'Liquid - Sweet Harmony' and 'Urban Shakedown - Some Justice' - comes into our minds almost instantly. Ce Ce Rogers' spine tingling, seminal hit 'Someday' gets a much-welcomed official remastered, reissue 31 years after it first took the scene by storm.

The pivotal line in the song, that goes… ‘I’ll go to South Africa & I’ll be called a man,’ switched the entire nation’s youth on to the disgusting atrocities that were taking place under Apartheid. British clubbing and electronic dance music magazine Mixmag ranked the song number three in its 100 Greatest Dance Singles Of All Time list in 1996, adding: The song was featured on the a fictional SF-UR radio station in the 2004 Video game Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Marshall made "Someday" after getting inspired by something according to his statement, but he couldn't remember what exactly. Ce Ce Rogers' manager Billy wanted Marshall to write a song for Ce Ce, so he accepted the task. Billy Prest was the greatest club promoter of all time and really took care of the artists. He flew Ce Ce to Chicago to sing "Someday", and Jefferson recorded Ce Ce's warm up vocal. Ce Ce said he was ready to start when they recorded the first take, but Marshall told him they had already finished. It was the greatest vocal performance Marshall had heard on a dance record, but Ce Ce Rogers wanted to re-record it. Marshall went to Macdonalds while Ce Ce did his second take, and it was great, but Jefferson didn't feel the need to do so really, so good the mfirst take came out.Even now in 2020/1, Ce Ce is still making outstanding top quality, unifying music at an incredible rate. We love him & there aren’t many musical artists working today, who have consistently held the bar so high. You can s ubscribe to his you tube channel here. Someday lyrics So let’s not even try. Have a listen, you’ll work it out. No wonder it was then & still is today, such a massive tune. That one line, totally blew away the racist rhetoric, that had been earlier laid down by the then Prime Minister, Margaret (total self awareness bypass) Thatcher.

[2] The single became their third consecutive Top 40 hit, but is also their lowest ranking chart single of all the M People releases, not performing as well as predecessors How Can I Love You More? and Colour My Life entering the chart at number 39 and climbing up one place to 38 in its second week selling around 6,300 copies in its first two weeks to land at number 39 and 38 in its respective weeks. A considerable sales decline in its third and final week the single charted at 62 selling 7,500 copies. These wars were fought off and on throughout the years of 1455 and 1485, with the final "battle" being won by Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond and the house of Lancashire. Henry Tudor VII married Elizabeth of York uniting the two families as one. So really all the fighting was for nothing since in the end they all came together in a "Happily Ever After" sort of way, fitting the sentiments to the lyrics of the song. For the first and only time, the sleeve states, 'M People with Heather Small'.It is impossible to put into words what this tune did to WHQ Club, on the night Nelson Mandela was finally released…
