How old is your DS? Would you consider co-sleeping (was the only thing that stopped me from running away)? You have to make a decision but it does get easier as you start weaning him on solids. Not right away but he will get into routine.

And for when you're ready to move on to the next stage in sleep-filled parenting: The Sensational Toddler Sleep Plan! The best thing that worked for me was that I stopped bringing her onto the bed to feed her as she used to fall asleep and then would be annoyed when she woke up in her cot. I now cradle her (more tiring for me but it has halved wake ups as I think it keeps her more awake) while I feed her and then she is kinda half asleep/almost asleep when I put her down. A follow-up guide, helping parents to handle sleep issues in toddlers and children aged over twelve months. In desperation to get more sleep I got this book out the library. I have never read such an anti- bf book ever. It makes BW look spot-on!The book goes against the guidelines in parts. Alison justifies her advice well using an evidence based approach & parents must make decisions for themselves about what feels right for them (I.e having babies in the same room). You could certainly try a cup, petsville. A doidy cup works for some (they lap at it when they're little) or a cup with a lid.

At 20 months old, my daughter Winifred’s sleep was regressing. She would wake in the middle of the night, needing warm milk and comfort, and then take forever to settle. Then came the 6am wakeups. My wife Georgia and I hoped it was a phase, but as the broken nights of sleep rolled on, Winnie’s habits became entrenched. With a second child on the way, we became desperate for sleep solutions. Can you get a TV in your bedroom? Not the perfect soloution but you could both watch it as you feed the baby. Alison continues to provide practical help, invaluable advice and much needed support to parents around the world through online consultations. Transworld imprint Bantam Press will publish The Sensational Toddler Sleep Planby Alison Scott-Wright, afollow-up to the 2010 title The Sensational Baby Sleep Plan, also published by the imprint. I know a lot of people think that if you’ve got a reflux baby, feed them ‘little and often and that’ll resolve those things’ - it actually doesn’t, it makes it worse. This is because it doesn’t fall in line with the natural workings of our digestive system and the digestive system of any baby.

I do agree that at the last pre-bed feed the baby is often too tired to take a proper feed. If I bf DS he'll just take a few oz and then drop off again, waking a few hrs later, whereas if I express and then bottle feed, he'll take 5oz and then sleep through. Her work is endorsed by some of the top paediatric gastroenterologists and through invitation attends exclusive ESPGHAN Paediatric Gastroenterology conferences. I wonder whether books discussing infant feeding should come under some regulation for their content and advice. For example, feeding at 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm and bedtime feed at 7pm. Afterwhich, through the night I don’t wake them, I let them sleep and they will naturally start to sleep longer and longer in-between feeds.

In a recent Interview with Alison Scott-Wright, The Magic Sleep Fairy, Alison shed some light on some common baby sleep FAQs. Take a look below! The book holds some quite clear and practical advice on how to help your baby (and, as a consequence, you) sleep better at night. Some of the advice which suggests that you let your baby cry for a minute or so is controversial, contested, and difficult for a caring parent to enforce. But you can just skip those bits - there are plenty of helpful tips that do not rely on this method. Baby-care consultant Alison Scott-Wright takes the stress and tension out of those early weeks and offers the ultimate plan that will ensure your baby sleeps soundly during the day and for a full 12 hours during the night from around eight to 10 weeks, without the need for night feeds! Some fairly conventional wisdom on infant sleep cycles coupled with some fairly spicy suggestions around routine and regiment. Like with any parenting book, one ought to take what suits their needs.I wanted to wait until I'd actually had a baby to rate this, seeing how much of the book's message was applicable and which elements were useful.

The Sensational Baby Sleep Plan By Alison Scott-Wright - Wob

In this interview, Alison Scott-Wright, also known as The Magic Sleep Fairy, answers questions from parents about how to help babies sleep better, the signs that something else may be at play such as reflux, and what to do if you think this is the case. Disregards all the SIDS advice by saying babies should sleep on their tummies or wedge on their side! Felt disappointed by the time I got to chapter 7 to actually hear what the technique is with the previous 6 chapters building up to it.That is the whole basis of part one in ‘ The Sensational Baby Sleep Plan ’, which if you follow, your little one will be naturally sleeping 12-hours by 8-12 weeks old. This book has some really good general information relating to sleep and feeding. At this point I will not be trying the plan as part of it entails using a bottle and watering down feeds and I am fully breastfeeding. You're getting lots of advice to early wean but don't do it. The recommendation is 6 months for a reason. You asked for advice here from anyone who had used her methods not to be put down for trying something that someone else may not agree with. Is that just a habit? If so, was the habit driven by an underlying digestive issue, like reflux, that your baby may have had? That’s the big question.
