About this deal

The main bit of praise I have for this dryer is that it really does help to keep excess frizz to a minimum –and I say that as someone with a naturally curly hairstyle that is very prone to frizz. When I dried my hair using the concentrated nozzle it yielded a nice smooth finish, even when I dried it somewhat roughly to then style using other tools later on. For a salon-style blowout, use the ceramic oval brush. Pass the hair over the longer side of the oval to smooth the lengths, and then flip the end over the shorter side to create a bouncy curl. The oval head of the 4-in-1 brush is slightly smaller than that of the full-size Revlon Salon One-Step, making it easier to reach the roots when styling. I lightly spritzed some hairspray through my hair to finish, and this held up well for a few hours, but I did experience some of the shape falling as the day went on. I've yet to use a hot-brush tool that does keep the shape in my hair all day long. I also tied my hair up into a bun later in the day and I was pleased to see that my hair retained its bounce after being up for a couple of hours. I find wearing my hair in a bun also helps to keep the style "memory" overnight too, so you can continue to enjoy bounce the next day.

Smoothing blow-dry brush with firm bristles creates gentle tension and control to shape and straighten hair as it dries. The BaByliss Air Style 1000 is a relatively bulky hair care appliance, measuring a maximum of 7.9 x 42.3 x 7.9cm (h x w x d) – it differs slightly depending on which head is attached. We found the handle, which is wide at the bottom and slimmer towards the end where attachments are connected, was unwieldy to hold when styling – particularly when manipulating the styler for curls and waves. On a positive note, the styler is relatively lightweight at around 503g (again, this differs slightly depending upon the attachment connected), ensuring you won’t end up with arm ache after a styling session. When it comes to styling hair, we had varying degrees of success with the attachments. And, since hair is required to be 80% dry before styling according to BaByliss, the whole process was more time-consuming, too. It took 2 minutes and 3 seconds to get our hair to 80% dry using the drying attachment. Round volumising brush with soft, ball-tip bristles are designed to be gentle on the scalp. Perfect to create root-lift and beautiful, bouncy volume. The only other negative aspect of my BaByliss Hydro Fusion hair dryer review is that it’s quite a jump from the middle temperature setting to the highest, which is much hotter. When drying off my hair to style it straight I found that I tended to switch between the two settings, and I could perhaps have done with a happy medium between the two. In my view, neither this nor the above are all-out reasons not to buy the Hydro Fusion Hair Dryer – particularly when you consider that it costs as little as 20% of the price of many higher-end tools. BaByliss Hydro-Fusion Hair Dryer review: my verdict As mentioned, the Air Style 1000 comes with four styling attachments. There’s a 50mm-wide bristle brush barrel for adding volume, a paddle brush attachment for creating sleek, smooth blow drys, a conical attachment for creating curls, and a drying attachment. The latter should be used first to ensure hair is 80% dry prior to using any of the styling attachments. Also in the box is a heat-resistant glove to protect your hands during styling.

On the other hand, when I dried my hair naturally curly with the diffuser, I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s the best combination I’ve ever used on my curls but the results were nice enough. I found that using the two together still achieved a good, frizz-free finish with a touch of added volume. It's certainly one of the best options I've tried from this price point. What's not good about it?
