About this deal

Korma – another hugely popular meal, this rich, creamy curry combines mild ground spices with corianderand garlic for a seriously tasty dish.

One way to take things to the next level is to use coconut cream. Not only does it give the sauce a beautiful velvety texture, it also introduces a delicious coconut taste that blends perfectly with the rich flavours and subtle spices. Our curry was undoubtedly more flavoursome overall, perhaps because our potatoes were seasoned beforehand. It was very similar to the M&S sauce but spicier. It might not have been a huge saving compared to the Patak's, but the Aldi sauce genuinely tasted nicer.Usually, this is not a dish that I would serve with nan but if you feel like it, go ahead and do that. We scored Aldi's sauce a 4.5/5 overall. It was probably the closest I've had to a takeaway curry, made at home but, let's be honest, nothing beats a proper Birmingham-made balti. Easy to adjust how hot you make it using more or less chillies or chilli puree. Or use different strength curry powders. Mild Curry Simply cook the chosen meat, fish or vegetables in a separate pan, whilst the sauce is cooking. Then add together after the sauce has been blended and warm through with the sauce.

A little sweet. And sour. A little spicy. And a little salty. See where I’m going? Chatpata in a bottle.

Making Pathia Sauce Bay leaves are quite common in Indian cooking. Unlike curry leaves, they are added at the beginning of the cooking process and removed before serving. Although they are technically edible, you really don't want to be chewing on a bitter bay leaf, so it's definitely best to remove once the dish has taken on its flavour. But how does this heavenly curry recipe get that sweet and sour element? It's all down to a few key ingredients that really bring this curry recipe alive!
