About this deal

One of the most exciting aspects of the time in which we live is the rediscovery of Christian practices and a renewed understanding of their purpose. We say, through our actions, that we want every person to know to the very fibre of their being that they are welcome. Some of the poems spoke to me and were okay, but I feel like I am just at a different place than the author is at this time in their life and their work was less relatable to my experience, however, I still enjoyed reading about their personal journey. The online campaign will launch on 17 November Where will you be sharing content for the digital campaign?

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone battling heartbreak - it understands the sadness of it and helps you wallow, and then it helps in encouraging you to move forward. Grammar and punctuation are terrible, but those Instagram Poets love to throw weird "aesthetic" formatting at us. To use a more contemporary language, John Wesley laid out a ‘rule of life’ for the early Methodist people. The other poetry collection I read from this author was just as bad, and I can see no learning of the art of poetry, no development. And I am not saying that the 30% that are actually are about the zodiac signs are bad because they're not totally terrible, for example I liked how she introduced every sign by listing things that make her think of each of them. Majority of the poems are based off of people they knew or met, or of herself, so it is difficult to rate something very personal.

Quite a few of the poems I found fit that bill - paintings brought to life, but not all of them lived up to that personal standard. We get in our own way by adhering to toxic beliefs that divide and belittle and diminish, distracting us from the real work of the spiritual path, which is to go deeper, not get smaller. The Lord Jesus “stretched out his arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of his saving embrace. At least for me, it made me feel validated to be comfortable in the emotions and feelings I experience, without being judged.

Goodreads Poems for the Signs by Michaela Angemeer | Goodreads

Because of their length, they felt more like instagram captions or tweets rather than poems in a poetry collection. Separated into three sections: Stumbling, Falling, and Landing, it's about complicated family relationships, reconciling with your anxious attachment style, finding a healthy love, and building something you hope will last.I saw Poems for the Signs after I downloaded and when I saw that it was indeed about the astrology signs, I immediately knew that it was going to be my next read. A beautiful poetry collection on childhood trauma, healing your inner child and all the ways platonic and romantic love can mess you up. Angemeer's description of her experiences with lost love and grieving is exactly what I needed to reassure me that I am not alone in these feelings. He never viewed rules and regulations as an instrument of control, rather he conceived spiritual disciplines as instruments of liberation and empowerment. It's unavoidable because everyone, no matter their sign, is multifaceted and hard to put into a box.
