About this deal

There are no hard and fast rules about which vinyls you can and can’t use for creating your fanlight. It is worth taking note that single sided metallic and neon vinyls are single sided meaning that if you want to use them these will need to be applied to the exterior surface of the glass and not flipped during the design process. Fanlight graphics with drop shadows & curved text This property was just that. It had been superbly refurbished inside to a high spec & the owners had some lovely furniture being added. The finishing touch was adding 23ct gold to the entrance to be lit by the ornate vintage lamp. Try to find a design that suits your interior, then select the colour that best matches your colour scheme. If you are planning to paint your front door for example, either select a colour for the door and find a suitable design within that colour range, or select a design and match the colour to your door. The shape of my window is different to your designs A fanlight is a feature of Victorian and Georgian homes; it is the window which sits above the front door and is generally in the shape of a fan. These are known as transom windows in the USA and can be a square shape. Whilst displaying your house number in this position was a tradition during the Georgian and Victorian periods, it still remains strong today within these period homes for a number of reasons. All our numbers are made of the highest quality materials chosen for their strength and durability. Easy to install, complete with installation guide and with a 10 year guarantee.

Period properties are often bought as people fall in love with the ‘character’ of the house; having a fanlight number is a traditional feature and adds to this character. Steps to take and what to consider when creating a fanlight design. See this guide on our youtube channel. STEP 3. CHOOSE VINYL. Choose the vinyl type and colour. See below for recommend vinyl options for fanlights. Fanlights were first introduced in the 1720's. Before electric lighting, fanlights enabled more natural light to enter the previously dark hallways. Georgian designs first started with glass being set within a wooden or metal semi-circular frame. Designs became more elaborate as metal work techniques improved. It was perhaps the advent of Palladianism and its arched doorways that created the semicircular form, just like an open fan. This already aesthetic shape was taken as a design opportunity which reached its decorative peak at the end of the century. The published designs of Robert Adam in the 1770s had a big influence on the development of this decorative form whilst rectangular frames became more popular in later Georgian designs. The fanlight became so successful during the Georgian period that it is iconic of the architectural style, forming the focal point and showpiece of the house frontage. It was widely used and can be found in London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Liverpool, Bristol and all the Georgian towns, spreading to North America, and "colonial" architecture in South Africa and Australia.Fanlight door and house numbers using frosted vinyl is a cheaper alternative to sandblasting or etched glass. Use the ‘INVERT’ option to make a design where the window is obscured by the frost vinyl and the number or name is removed to give a contrasted effect. House numbers in gold leaf are very traditional & very London, especially in West London. Its just that add of finesse to the dream property that has been worked so hard for, so adding that bit of classy presentation is like the icing on the cake. The first thing to do is go to our vinyl lettering tool and log into your account (or sign up) so that your designs will be saved in your basket. For those of you who would like to know, here is a bit of history about fanlights and transoms and why they're such a great place to put your house number! Our Numbers are available in one optimum size and will fit neatly into most fanlight windows or transom windows. Approx 7" high x 5" wide (18cm x 13cm) depending on actual number.

If for any reason we believe your numbers will be longer than the above times we will always inform you.STEP 1. DESIGN BOARD SIZE. Measure the width and height of your fanlight windowpane and enter the dimensions here. This is your ‘design board’, by entering these details the preview pane below will adjust to your dimensions and you can later ensure the text fits correctly in this space. The most popular option for fanlight signs. This metallic effect vinyl has a high gloss mirror finish. The vinyl is double sided so when the design is cut in reverse and applied to the inside of the window, the metallic effect shows through. SPECIALITY/FROST We have over 60 colour options including silver and gold (non-metallic). All of the matt or gloss colour range is double sided so when the image is flipped and applied to the inside of the glass the colour will show correctly.
