About this deal

When undertaking any lifting, hoisting or pulling applications, it's critical for safety to select the right fastening to attach your cable or rope to. Eye bolts are designed to withstand rigorous use whilst holding impressive loads to ensure you get the job done. Here at Cromwell, we have a wide range of eye bolts in an array of sizes, from leading brand TTC Lifting. Collared: Collared or shouldered eye bolts are fully threaded and reinforced with a collar or shoulder. When installed the shoulder sits flush with the mounting surface and offers more stability to the base of the eye and prevents bending and deforming. This design means that these eye bolts can be used for angular loads of up to 45°. Commercial or Load Rated: These eye bolts are designed for use in lightweight non-load bearing applications such as securing ropes or cables to posts and are not used to lift or suspend an object. Load-rated eye bolts often have embossed stamping on the body of the eyebolt stating the working load limit (WLL), batch number and thread size.

Primarily used in the industrial sector, eye bolts are used to secure cables or ropes that can then be used as part of a pulley or hoisting system to lift heavy objects. When used safely and correctly, eye bolts form an invaluable part of your rigging system whilst also boasting the advantage of being cost effective, robust and easy to use and install. Eye bolts are a type of fastening that are characterised by a threaded rod finished with a circular head or "loop" on top. Most commonly manufactured from steel, eye bolts are normally designed to be finished and secured off with a nut for a bolstered hold. There are various types of eye bolts, the most common being Dynamo and Collared. Dynamo eye bolts possess slightly larger eyes, whereas Collared eye bolts have a smaller internal diameter, but often a greater capacity.

Why use Gripple?

SWL is an acronym that refers to the Safe Working Load of an eye bolt. This is normally measured in tonnes and denotes the maximum weight that the eye bolt can safely hold when pulling at a straight angle. We want to make it easy for you to shop our range of eye bolts, so here are some key terms that will help you understand our array of eye bolts and their applications a little better.

Plain or Regular: These eye bolts are used for vertical loading only and are not recommended for angular lifting. They can also be used with tie-downs to secure loads and as wire guides. The eye bolt (otherwise known as a lifting eye bolt or eyelet) is a type of bolt with a loop at one end. They are used for a wide variety of material lifting applications and may either pivot or swivel. The securing eye must be securely attached to the structure before ropes or cables are tied for lifting. In some instances, there will be a purpose-made hole for the eye bolt. The load may also have to be attached to a hole designed for alternative use, such as the stud. Machinery: Machinery eye bolts are forged and shouldered and have threads with a high holding strength. These eye bolts have a heavy-duty design and are made to high specifications and standards. Applications include connection points in rigging applications and, due to their shouldered design, can be used to angled loads. An eyebolt, or a lifting eye, is a bolt with a loop at one end. The eyebolt has a threaded shank or rod which is securely screwed into a structure. Once the bolt is secured in place, ropes or cables can be anchored to or fed through the protruding loop (eye). Heavy-duty eye bolts can be used in rigging for lifting heavy loads, and a smaller eyebolt can be used for tensioning wires, securing loads and in other non-load bearing applications. You can find more information in our eye bolts guide.Incorporating a 90 degree pivoting anchor point and with a full 360 degree rotation all in grade 80 forged alloy steel. Eye Bolts and Eye Nuts are also commonly known in the lifting industry as lifting eyes and are available in a wide range of metric and imperial sizes, as well as high tensile steel or stainless steel options. They vary in shape and size and include DIN standard eye bolts, Collar BS4278 Standard Eyebolts, Long Shank, Dynamo type and Eyebolts with built-in Oval Links. Lifting Eye Capacities (WLL - Working Load Limit) are available online from 95kg all the way up to 200 tonnes from standard equipment and greater capacities as special bespoke manufactured. A swivel lifting/lashing point is also commonly referred to as a hoisting eye or load ring as well as a lifting point. lifting and lashing products available to buy online here are high quality lifting/hoisting points manufactured quality manufacturers. Our weld-on lifting and lashing points rotate through 360 degrees and pivot through 180 degrees. Standard capacities are up to 50 tonne with greater capacities available on request. All eyebolts must be installed and tested as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Forged: These eye bolts are forged as one piece rather than formed and have a continuous eye and shoulder. This design enables them to be used for heavier loads.
