About this deal

Once you’ve removed most of the sealant from the surface you’ll be left with at least some small strands. Use either your finger or thumb to rub it off or you can use white spirit – simply dab a little on an old cloth and rub over the excess strands until they come off or dissolve. Once you have finished each line of sealant, release the pressure from the application gun. Wipe away excess sealant from the nozzle and replace the cap. Residual pressure can remain in the tube causing silicone sealant to leak from the nozzle so take care! 8 – Achieving a perfect silicone sealant bead

Load the sealant tube into a caulking gun and squeeze the trigger to apply a steady and even bead of sealant along the joint between the shower tray and the tiles or wall. Keep the pressure consistent for a smooth application. Work in small sections, approximately 12-18 inches at a time, to ensure you have enough time to shape and smooth the sealant before it starts to set. Place the smoothing tool against the tray and tiles, start from the point where you first applied the sealant and apply gentle yet consistent pressure pulling the tool along the length of the tray to remove excess sealant leaving an even bead. Byretech's Shower Seals are gloss white and are easily cut to size. We profile one end to make fitting extremely simple and even the sealant is included in the kit too.Clean and dry – Use warm water containing a mild detergent to thoroughly remove grime and residue from the area and then use paper towels or a hairdryer to speed up the drying process. A properly sealed shower tray is essential to prevent water damage and maintain the integrity of your bathroom. Over time, the sealant around your shower tray may deteriorate, leading to leaks and potential structural issues. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of sealing a shower tray, including how to apply shower tray sealant, how to silicone a shower tray, and how to remove old sealant from a shower tray. Remove any dust and loose deposits with a vacuum cleaner, and then clean the shower tray surface and tiles with a damp cloth that’s been soaked in warm water and mild detergent.

When you’ve created a smooth bead do not keep smoothing the sealant as it will tear, become untidy and may not adhere correctly. Wipe the surfaces clean where the strip will be attached first with a clean damp cloth allow to dry and then wipe with the IPA wipe supplied in the kit.

Step 5 - Use a spirit level to ensure that the tray is completely level the whole way around. This is one of the most important steps in installing a shower tray as a tray that isn’t level will cause issues with drainage and water could gather on one side of the tray and potentially overflow. Trays are designed so that the water runs towards the waste outlet, so there’s no need to tilt the tray.
